I'm not too picky, but I love the idea of buying nutes from any good company but only as a base N or P or K. PK combos work well too. It means more control. On a budget I agree ~7-3-5You said soiless, right? Go for nutes that go well with soiless mixes. For example for coco get coco nutes. And follow the instructions they give you. It's quite easy. For veg NPK should be something like 7-3-5. With higher N and P lower than or equal to K. And flower is higher P. You'll get the picture.
In a hypothetical budgetless grow
My aim in veg is a 7-2-3 indoor soils or 10-3-4 outdoor soils or 18-4-6 in hydro/high volume water soil less with 1.5-3 month veg, and a 8-3-5 in a well watered soil less 1-2 month veg . All values subject to slight change.
In late veg, id want to be at (in same order) ~5-4-3, ~8-5-4, ~14-7-6, ~5-5-5. Again, all may need to be messed with.
In first 2 weeks of flower ~4-7-4,~6-10-6, ~12-10-8, ~4-8-6.
All but last 1-2 weeks of flower ~3-4-6, ~5-5-8, ~7-5-8, ~3-4-7.
If you have some quality nutes along these lines and feed at 1/4-3/4 strength every watering with 5-7 days of 1/10-1/8 strength nute solution every 21 days, I 100% guarantee you will have more productive plants than in the rainforest. Rainforest trees fruit every OTHER year because the nutes are past leeched out.
