First Grow: CFL/Hempy--G13 Labs Auto AK Feminized

Greetings and salutations everyone! I'm new to forums and growing so be gentle on me.


Box: wood frame & carboard walls 4' tallx3'x3'

Lights: 6-23w 2700k, 1-68w 2700k, 1-42w 6500k

Fans: 2-120mm pc exaust, 1-120mm pc intake, 1-box fan, 1-dsk fan

Strain: G13-Labs Auto AK Feminized, came as an extra to the twitter comp I won. Prize Mr. Nice Nevilles Skunk

Gerninating in Rockwool, this is where I am now. Seed went in about 2-3 hrs. ago

Medium will be a 75% perlite 25% B'cuzz coco, I will be rincing these tomorrow in preperation for transplant. Any tips with coc and perlite appreciated and welcome!!

No ph meter yet or TDS/PPM meter. I have General Hydroponics ph solution kit though.

Nutrienst will be G.H. Flora Micro & Flora Bloom as well as Cal-Mag plus. Using Lucas formula so no need for Flor Grow. Also have some samples, Humboldt County's Own: Bushmaster, Gravity, Snow Storm Ultra, Purple Maxx & Crystal Burst. Not sure if I can use the Homboldt County's Own with the Lucas Formula so any info on that would be awesome!!



Ok so that's what I'm working with. Although the box all the way closed up gets into the high 90's didn't let it go higher and opend it up. So now the box is open with all fans running and some windows open in my room. I have a window AC unit for when sumer hit. Maybe ill hok up some exaust hose from Ac to the intake fan? Think that would be ok? I'm not really tring to spend more money just yet so thinking cheap here. Also I don't have a way to check humidity yet. Any sugestions on steps to take when you don't have a way to check humidity?


I PH'd my tap water that sat out about 72 hrs to about 5.5-6.0 and added 1.60ml of Flora Micro to 2 gallons. Rockwool soaked for about 3-4 hrs in PH'd lite nuted water. Put seed in facing point down and put in dome then sprayed insie of dome with same nuted water rockwool soaked in.


Since its an AutoFlowering strain I was thinking of doing a 24hr light cycle. Is this ok? If not tips and sugestions always appreciated and welcomed! Also anyone who may have grown G13-Labs Auto AK Feminized before feel free to lend some advice tips help whatever!

I have extra bulbs but with heat being the way it is I won't be able to use them until I get more money I can invest in the project. And please don't hate or bash me for using CFL's. If I had the money I would do it differently.





All advice helps questions tips and pictures welcome! If anyone can toss some answers my way I would be very greatful! Oh and at any point does an AutoFlower Strain need a regular darkness schedaul? Oh and its just 1 plant to start off with to get my feet wet. Next grow will be 2 Reserva Privada's Purple Wreck! So any info in advance on that strain would be awesome too!!

Sorry and Temps are now between 75-78 degrees now with box and windows open. Lil chilly in the room but its working to keep temps where I need them.

I read you don't need the lights to germinate in rockwool is this true? This is the cube now. Temp in dome is at about 80 degrees now figured this was ok cuz the seed needs to be warm correct? Someone anyone a lil insight please & thank you!

Warm and wet = germinaton. lights are not needed to germinate but they add extra heat i leave mine on so that when the seed does come out it has light as soon as it can use it. Lights at 24/7 is a bad idea you well burn the plant out 18/6 everything needs alittle sleep. Also 2700k lights are more for flower during veg 6500k are better

Ya I know about the 6500k but wasn't sure sence its an autoflower if I could just use mostly 2700k . And I'm doing passive hydro. Hempy buckets have a hole about 2in up the side and that's it. Some perite in the bucket at the bottom to cover the hole and act as your resivor. On top of that I'm doing a 75% perlite and 25% B'cuz coco. Ph can be off a lil in hempy as long as your between like 5.5 and 6.3 I've gotten pretty decent with PH'ing my water mostly yellow with a hint of orange. So about 6.0 on the PH but a lil under. Thanx for the input though! Last night I took out some of my 23w 6500k and put in a 42w 6500k. So now there's 2 42w 6500k's in there. But still more 2700k's. Should I take out more 2700k's ya think? It is just one bean I'm doing after all. Any suggestions? The 2-42w 6500k's are all I have in that spectrum.

leave them in it wont hurt 6500k is just better in veg the auto flower im growing says 8 weeks total 2 weeks veg so i like to use lots of 6500k during the two weeks to get the best growth i can then switch for flowering

Newbie here, how long does it generally take for the roots to take hold after germination and for it to poke it's lil head out? Thx

Halfaweek ya I took out 2 of the 23w 2700k's and will replacethem cme flower time andtake out 1 42w 6500k. JHock08 usually 3-5 days is average if conditions are right I believe but can take up to 10.

Do you start the germination in the rock wool or do something else first like the paper towel method? How soaked/wet should the rock wool be?

No offence JHock08 bu this is my grow journal there's help in the forums. I'm no expert and need some tips and help myself. You see I'm asking questions too. Not tring to be a dick but you don't troll the grow journels to find help with grows there's 100's of threads for help. But you wanna soak your rockwool for at least an hr you can use the paper towl method but I didn't. I'm germing in the rockwool. And this is my first grow so I coundt honestly tell you what would work best. Good luck.

No offense taken Fatty, I completely understand. I don't mean to hijack your GJ. I just find it more helpful to actually follow peoples grows and see it step by step. I do appreciate the advice and good luck to you.

Its cool just a lil frustrated. There's thousands of people on here! This journals ben up what 2 days and I've got 254 viems and basically knowone trying to help or give feed back kinda sucks.

Thats exactly how I feel when I post on the Newbie Central Forums, lots of lookers but not much help. There's just so many posters. Anyways I hope it works out for you.

It is what it is though.


I've made sure the 2 42w 6500k's are directly over the cube and have the 2700k's around those. I've been woried about temps being to high but that what you want for germination. So I'm letting them hit around 88 degrees. Seeds in the rockwool and coverd not too deep but I'm sure the light not bothering her. Maybe? Idk really its just a cube for now haha! Also I've stoped using the super lite nute solution to spary a dome and water plant with. I've bought a couple gallons of distilled water and PH'd it to around 5.5-5.8. I will be using this until she's ready for nutes. I've just hear to many people say not to use nutes that early but also heard that you ned to because rockwool has no nutrient value at all.



Any help thoughts ideas that don't involve me spending more money yet. Not looking to buy anything else until next time around. Thanx in advance and anyone with AutoFlower experience hit me up with tips or whateve. Like I'm not sure if I wanna do a 2 or 3 gallon bucket for this lil Auto so suggestions would be nice to on that. That's about it for now id post pics but she hasn't stuck her hear out yet.

Got some Home Depot cards I forgot about......score! That's 2 more 42w 6500k's right there! Will be getting those soon to replace the 4-23w 2700k's. Next day or 2. I also added a reflector to the 68w 2700k bulb. Its up about a fott and a half it gives off a decent amount of heat but not enough to burn your hand when you touch it. Box fan is out not sure if I posted that. Windows open and box all closed up is around 82-89 degrees. Not using the 1.60 flora micro per 2 gal for misting anymore. Just PH'd distilled water until she's ready. Still hasn't broke surffice yet....sucks! I keep trying to just foget but I'm always checking the temp. Digital thermomitor so I can see temps without opening box. I mist the dome lid several times a day, is this too much? I water only once a day though.

So lights soon to be 4-42w 6500k's & 1-68w 2700k. Thoughts answers to questions pics all welcomed and appreciated!! Anyone with experience with G13 labs Auto AK Feminized?
