First Grow - CFL's with smaller cabinet and Lowryder Easy Ryder

I am using a cabinet that is a fish tank stand it is black and pretty solid it does not have a compete backing so buying some wood. Going to cover the back, seal the seems, paint the inside white with kilz.

The dimensions of the cabinet are:
29 3/4" wide (broken into 2 sections 14 1/2" wide each)
25 3/4" Tall
11 1/2" deep
There is a divider in the middle of the cabinet that breaks it into 2 sections which will help because I would like to clone my plant before I flower.

Ordered 3x Lowryder Easy Ryder Feminized seeds from attitude seeds they also included a Paradise Seeds Acid feminized seed for free.

I am planning on germinating a Lowryder Easy Ryder and Paradise Seed Acid to start off. If it goes well I will keep them on one side of the cabinet and do clones in the other side.

8 lights 6x 6500k 2x 2700k for veg
8 lights 8x 2700k for flowering.
20/4 cycle for veg
24 hour darkness
12/12 cycle for flowering
Fox Forest Ocean soil
Fox Forrest Tiger Bloom for when I start flowering

How does everything sound so far?

My seeds came in this weekend! I will germinate them late this week as I am still ironing out my box right now.

Today I added a backing to my cabinet, picked up some pvc pieces for passive intake, and silicon to seal the box from air leaks.

I installed the backing and put down 2 coats of Killz. I might have to do a third but ran out of light so letting it dry overnight and will check tomorrow.

I still need to get soil, power strips, bulbs, 2x 120mm fans, and figure out how I am going to do a carbon scrubber.



I need some help on airflow for my cabinet. I plan on doing

Intake - 2 passive 2" holes with 90 degree elbows painted flat black
Exhaust - 120mm 69cfm fan and working out how I will add a carbon setup.

This will be for each side so ends up bring 4 intakes and 2 exhausts as each side is independent. Will this bee enough airflow?

Mods could you please move this to the cfl growing section? I posted it in the wrong section and can not pm yet as I have too low of posts.

Just an update on my grow cabinet. I added a 3rd coat of Kilz as 2 was just not enough with the cabinet being black. I also put silicone on the inside seems for an air proof seal. I did the outside seems with liquid nails when I added the backing.

I also did 2 coats of Krylon Satin black to my 90 degree elbows that will be for the passive intake. Going to check today but I think 2 was enough and will install them tonight.

I also received my soil Fox Forest Ocean soil so the only things left are:
- Install intake pvc
- Install 120mm fans for exhaust (on order should be here Saturday)
- Pick up some spring water for feedings (waiting oh ph tester comes with fans)
- Install power strips and bulbs (doing that tomorrow or Saturday)
- Get some mesh pen holders to do diy carbon filter
- Pick up some oder gel from lowes $3 for 12oz

I will post up some new pics tonight after I get the intakes installed.

2 coats was enough for the elbows so I glued them to a straight section and glued them to the cabinet. After the glue dries I am going to do a bead of silicon around the elbows to make sure they are sealed and light proof.

I have been torn on using cfl's or hps and I think heat was going to be an issue so I decided to scrape the hps plan and ended up getting a htg supply 7 Band 135w UFO LED light. I plan on adding at least 2x 2700k cfls as well for flowering.

hmmm, seems abit tight for 4 plants, even if they are auto's. how big are the pots ur gonna use?
