Hello fellow AG growers,
I started my AG grow about 2 weeks ago and im pretty excited about it. I wasnt sure if I was going to start a grow journal or not but it seems like a lot of people are so I figured why not try and see what people have to say. I kinda of got ahead of myself and started growing in it before I had read a lot on these forums, like almost every AG forum and there is a lot to learn about it but it seems to be going along pretty good. The AG I am using is the Space Saver 6, it was kinda an early Christmas present to myself haha. I got some decent mid seeds from a friend of mine, I have some Orange kush seeds, some Green Crack seeds, and like 7 Master Kush seeds for the next grow, I just figured I would start off with these bagseeds just to experiment and not waste my good seeds. This is my first grow ever period! But anyways I started germinating my seeds(paper towel method, cracked open in 24 hours! A trick I used and heard was to take a little matchbox and take a little piece of sandpaper and line the bottom of the matchbox with the sandpaper and put the seeds in the matchbox and shake and then saok in water for 24 hours and then put in a wet paper towel in a ziploc bag and I put them on top of my dresser and 24 hours they were ready to plant) on Dec 31st and planted them Jan. 2nd. 2009. I added the starter nutes that came with the AG 1 week after I put them in the AG. The plants were still pretty small but I didnt really notice any nute burn or any problems with adding them this early. At 2 weeks old they are about 3-4 inches tall and I started off with 6 plants and I am down to 5 now. I have been rotating them every other day to the next pod and I broke a stem on the 6th plant
... But the 5 are looking really healthy. I had an old Uhaul box laying around the house so I used that as my "grow cabinet", I lined the inside of the box with just plain old aluminum foil, I know mylar is much better and I might change it out just really havent had the time as of right now but I would love to change it. I cut the front of the box off just so I can move it and replace it when I need to access the AG. I went to PetSmart and purchased a 30gph airpump or however the rate it and a 12 inch little airtube i guess is what you would call for my airstone. I cut it in half and got a splitter for the airline and have place one on the bottom in the front and back of the resevoir and damn its a lot of air flowing haha. I have a figure 8 cord and a timer for the lights and I am running them 24/7 and the airpump for 24/7. I have a small 6 inch fan circulating air inside the box and I placed a plastic cup on each side of the AG to help raise the humidity, it went from like 40% to right around 60%. The temp is staying between 76-78F. I used to work at an enviromental testing lab so I am using the Ph strips that we used to test my Ph, they are pretty accurate and my ph has been staying between 5.6-5.8. I have been using gallons of spring water from Walmart for like $0.78 a gallon. I plan on getting more lights for vegging maybe next week or when I need them just depends on my babies and what they tell me and I have a 150W HPS that I am going to use for flowering. I dont think that I have forgotten anything, but who knows haha. Any comments(good or bad), suggestions, questions or anything just let me know. Looks good mann.. I also have an aerogarden space saver 6, I'm about two weeks into flowering. I'll be posted.
