First grow -- flowering. Looking for advice

I'm still on my first grow, and I'm looking for some expert advice about how much longer I might have to wait until I can harvest. I have no idea what strain they are; the seeds I got were generously donated from a friend.

I'm growing in closet using a homemade flood/drain system using CFLs and Botanicare Pure Blend products for nutes.

I welcome your advice.

I'm a newb too, but I must point out that you didn't give pictures or details regarding how long they've been growing, and other info that would probably help the pros out. Just a tip :)

Good luck with your grow, man. Hope it smokes as great as you dreamed it would :D

well i am no expert but indicas usually take 9ish weeks of flowering and sativas can take 11-14 or more. I have also read that using cfls can add a bit of time (compared to HPS) but i dont know this from experience. I am currently flowering under fluoro tubes which is less than ideal but still producing good results.

...get a mag., watch the trichlones, when their about 50% amber...harvest. Your top buds will start the turn first. They will go from colors, in order: clear to milky to amber.

My first grow consisted of two batches of seeds from a buddy of mine. The first batch was germinated on 11/7/09 (led to 2 females) and the 2nd batch was germinated on 12/27/09 (led to 4 males). The picture was of the top of the tallest plant, germinated on 12/27. I've added a picture of the closet showing all the plants (though the lighting for the photo isn't the best). I didn't record the exact date I switched to 12/12, but it was around 1/20/10.

Nice job, looks good. Like others said - harvest time is strain-dependent, which you don't know in this case. Even if you do know the strain, you have to watch the gland (trichome) development and time it from that. Even within a single strain, there will be variation.

You've got a few weeks to get yourself a mini-scope, and decide what blend of clear, cloudy, and amber trichomes you want at harvest time.
