This plant was vegged for 2 months under two 175 watt metal halide and flowered under 400 watt hps for another two. The grow started out with six plants, this is the only female. For a first grow I am pretty satisfied. I am guessing about an ounce of dried bud. The trichomes are very red. I have never bought pot that looks like this. Can anyone explain what this is from and if it a good or bad thing.

HuH? You mean the hairs thats normal. You shoulda researched before trying to grow you just wasted alot of time and coulda got aloott more than 1 ounce under a 400 watt HPS. But it looks dank so enjoy

.I would have gotten more but right when I began flowering one of the metal halides fell on it and snapped the stem at about 5 inches. It was twelve before this. You are right it was a rookie mistake, but I learned so much more trying it than you can from reading. Next grow will be much better, cant wait.

Well actually I snipped a bud about a week ago just to taste and it is dried now. It is very good high, but it locks you to the couch. It is a downer kind of high. Is there anyway I could have gotten a more up high or is it the strain? Does anyone know a good strain that produces this kind of buzz? Thanks for the props.
I may be scolded for saying this, but the general rule of thumb as far as the type of high you'll get is usually a matter of strain. More sativa strains produce the energetic "head high," while indicas often give you the couch-locked "stone" you're talking about. There are exceptions to every rule obviously, but your best bet would be to research some strains and see what sounds good to you, and then ask people who've personally grown that strain about them. I have an AK-48 flowering right now, which I believe is a hybrid strain, but I know it produces a pretty nice, energetic high, which I prefer as well, like you.

the main thing to do to get the heady energetic high, is to keep an eye on the trichomes when it gets close to harvest time. get a cheap microscope and keep watching them. once they start getting cloudy, you are getting close. i would say for my personal preference, i would like about 75% cloudy / 25% amber. would give you the up high your looking for but also give you a bit of a body buzz. anyone please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm not to sure about that man. It's pretty much determined from the strain, either indica(Body buzz) or Sativa(head high).

from what all i've read... it's a mixture of the two... strain plays the main role, but harvesting earlier provides more cerebral high and the later you harvest .. the more stoned. again.. just from what i've read

0hey i couldnt find the right thread again once i registered but on using halogens, i tried recently using halos for my first grow and had a succesful crop just using an ordinary window fan to blow on the halo and fixture, 4 months in , no fires , and cropped probably 2-3 ounces. just 24 till about 4 ft tall then 12 , 12'. Worked for me, so atleast give it a try ,
