Hurgh.... For a while I was researching for info around the interwebs and the fabled outside world on about my initial plan for my grow plan. I've cooked up a new grow plan which pretty much threw everything I had planned out the window and into the gutter. For those who watched my older thread I apologize for being AFK for a long period but life can kick your ass if you don't pay attention so I've decided to come back here for another shot at growing my own dank herb. So let's get to the sweet data and info about the upcoming grow to which I have dedicated myself into!
GROW BOX BUILD
My initial plan was to buy the grow box from the store but due to my financial situation I've decided to build my own grow box from plywood that will get it's support struts built outside of it so the inside of the grow box will have around 2 cubic meter capacity (70,6 cubic feet) depending on the size of reflective film. All the seams of the box will be filled with industrial gelatinous glue that hardens to an iron like state and can withstand heat, moisture and stress for added support, which is then covered with silicone sealant and all of that will get covered in aluminium tape. The door of the box will have a door frame air sealant that will prevent smell and light leaks. Ventilation will be taken care of with a 100mm (3,9 inch) inline fan pushing 145-187 cubic meters/h (5 120 - 6 603 cubic feet) of air through homemade carbon filter that then is exhausted out the window and for intake I intend to use negative pressure to achieve this to keep the thing as smell proof as possible. I want to know if that ventilation power is overkill so I can take a note to buy an interface to control the power. Lighting will be handled with a 600 watt HPS for flowering and a magnetic ballast of the same power, for vegetation I'm going to use two 250 watt CFL bulbs with a blue color spectrum for a cooler and more power efficient start for the grow. I'm going to use a HPS fixture mounted reflector with a vent placement. For reflective material I'm going to use Orca grow film due to its high quality, mold preventive properties and OP reflective capabilities and the fact Orca doesn't reflect infrared is just extra icing on the cake and the real downside is the high price. Thermometer and hygrometer as combo. Lastly I'm going to get a dehumidifier, either a mechanical or just pellets from the local hardware store.
GROW STYLE AND TECHNIQUES
Seedling grow will be done in a pH balanced rockwool cube which is either 7,5 x 7,5 x 7,5 cm (3 x 3 x 3 inches) which then will be transplanted into hydroton when the plant and roots are big enoug. The grow will be a one module DWC grow that utilizes one 65 liter (14-UK 17-US gallons) so the aim is to grow just one monster cannabis plant and since my strain of choice will be Barney's Farm LSD which is a hardy strain with resistance to fungus and mold so I hope that will give me a good edge. I'm going to get either two or three large airstones to give nice bubbler action going and to ensure that the feed stays aerated the whole time and from what I read, the more bubbles the bigger healthy root grow ergo more bud. I'm going to use General Hydroponics nutrients line for and I would really appreciate if fellow DWC growers could give me advice on this one since this particular brand of nutrients is easiest to acquire from all the other nutes. I'm going to use either one or two scrog nets to support heavier bud grow and LST to achieve multiple budding sites on hand-to-hand with FIMMING not topping. I'm also going to use the controversial yet effective defoliation for this grow, even though it's my first grow DON'T WORRY! I'm not goin to heavily defoliate my plant since it is my first time and defoliation is proven to be effective by numerous expert growers. Defoliation is going to be on of the main techniques of my first and future grows because it eliminates shade for low and mid grow so the plant will grow faster and when It's trained to withstand defoliation during veg the plant won't mind it as much during flowering when it's at the utmost important to ensure bigger yields. Defoliation also helps to control humidity and airflow better.
STEALTH LIKE SOLID SNAKE OR SILENT HILL
For the stealth action I'm going to use styrofoam to soak up the vibrations caused by the air pump and most likely build a box for it to act a silencer. I'm going to use a muffler for the inline fan to make it run silently so It doesn't sound like a fucking jet engine in my apartment. For smell prevention I'm going to use activated carbon filter on the air duct as I mentioned on the grow plan, also I'm going to use Ona pro gel to suck up the nasty odors in the room outside the grow box, most likely just around the door to the room and the intake hole on the grow box. The exhaust and the window will be camouflaged with a mosquito net stapled to the frame and also wicker drapes with a blackout screen to complete the camo (It's hard to write down because english isn't my native tongue). Luckily the apartment I live in is on the highest floor and best of all, a corner apartment with nice greenery and flowers during summer but come winter and I'll have to amp up my stealth gear. The busy train track during night time and best of all the building is over 60 years old so it gives off a lot of old building sounds like clanging pipes, creaking floors and the overall haunted atmosphere is there too and even better the quarry gives nice explosion induced vibrations and warning signals.
That pretty much wraps it up! I've written down everything I can think of being relevant to the grow apart from PPM and pH which I already have a fair idea of and of course adjustable chain to control the distance of lights to the plant. What I still need to know thou is what General Hydroponic nutrients I should use for this grow and please do correct my mistakes and give help and tips because that is always appreciated! Looking forward to this grow guys !
