first grow is my grow box setup ok ???

this is my first grow and i have a few questions. i am using a 30 gal storage box. i used windshield reflectors around the box. i have 4 cfl bulbs 100 watts each and 2 cfl tubes on the sides. i have 2 pc fans for intake and exhaust for airflow. the temp in the box is around 80f when everything is on. is this setup ok? my seeds are currently germinating. and another question i have is do i add nutes as soon as i plant the seed? thanks ill really appreciate the comments guys :leaf: box2.jpgbox1.jpg

You're setup looks a lot better than mine :P

Don't add nutes until at least a few weeks in (at least thats what I read) cause it will cause nutrient burn at the early stages.

looking good so far, might want to y split them a few more times and pack another hundred or couple hundred watts in there during flower, it will only help. :) 2700's

The snake i got around 6500 lumens im trying to grow two plants do i need more light?
Growin dad not worried much about odor but what can i do to control it would be a good idea incase of anything

I don't add nutes until 1-1.5 months into Veg (but I grow organic); my train of thought is that the soil you use contains nutrients so I don't feel the need to supplement that soil until that has been depleted (takes 30-40) days. I really like your grow box. I see it as a space for seedlings and young veg plants. It's going to get crazy busy in there at 4+ plants and there's no way you can use it to flower; too short. Great for seedlings and young veg plants tho!

those can't be 100w bulbs they look way to small maybe 23w if thats the case you're gonna need more light its only about 5500 lumens i would get 2 more 6500ks and add two of those 2700ks in with a total of 8 that'll put you around 11k lumens

i wouldn't put more then two plants in there if your just growing for personal use you can easily get 5 oz out of that make a second one and you can have a perpetual grow going

oh and for smell a grow that small smell might not even be a issue but you should grab a jar of ona gel if you want to be on the safe side)you won't need it till week 5 of flower if you'll need it at all) you can scoup a small amount and put it in a soda can or a small dish inside your grow box a full jar of it would be over kill and make your entire room wreak of fresh scent i have a 4x4x8 stealth cab and only use an amount the size of a shot glass

Ok... I can tell ya now that its gonna get pretty warm in there with the plants as windshield reflectors create a lot of heat. I have been there before. use reflective tuck tape or ducting tape ( foil tape ). I works well and doesn't create hot spots. Also don't worry to much about smell as there wont be that much coming from a stealth grow. also 6500L is good for 2 plants in Veg. Get some Y splitters like Snake said and add more when in flowering. Also make sure you have a 3:1 ratio of kelvin. So if your running 4 bulbs.... 3x6500k : 1x2700k. Then reverse it when you flower.

Spex the box came with 4 bulbs it said 1600 lumens each thats 6400 lumens plus 2 eight watt side lights. Do i need more? Or is it ok?

I did use reflective tape on all the edges to stick the windshield reflectors. So i need 2700k lumens of warm light? Is this to have a mixed spectrum?

they look like 23 watters to me and you telling me that they're 1600 ea im pretty sure they don't make a 25 1/2 watt cfl so whoever you bought the box from probably just rounded up in reality your getting much less with distance at more then 2" away you loose so much with those little 23 watt bulbs plus after a week or so they start to loose their effectivness thats with any light bulb especially fluros especially clfs


6400 lumens isnt really ideal you would want 8k + what i would do is like i said before i would get two more 6500k bulbs maybe 46 or 35w you can put the same ones in there if you want but thats what i would do and add two of those 2700k bulbs to add a little yellow light


the idea with mix spectrum is blue light(6500k) allows for foliage growth while red or yellow(2700k) gives you vertical lanky growth without one or the other you could have a short bushy plant or a tall lanky with no branches both together you get a well balanced plant growth

thanks alot i have 3 6500k and i have 1 2700k now in the setup and yes im going to add 3 more 6500k and 1 more 2700k i really apreciate your help
