First grow, is this a good set up?

I've been trolling all the good info on here for quite awhile and I think this should be a good bang for the buck set up. Just wanted to run it past some people that actually know what they're doing and make sure I have my bases covered and the stuff I picked isn't junk that I'll be replacing in short notice. Looking at growing 4 to 6 plants. Worth noting, I have an HTG Supply within an hour, I contemplated going the grow kit route but at near $600 I figured I can piece it together cheaper with better parts.

I know I'll also need a thermometer/hygrometer and a digital PH meter and a timer for the light. I'm going for the keep it simple stupid strategy on this for the first one so I'm going to go soil and most likely this autoflower northern lights https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/sensi-seeds-northern-lights-auto/prod_4062.html Any recommendations on soil? I read great things about Fox Farm Ocean Forest but that's going to be pretty pricey if I need to fill 20+ gallons of pots. Also do I need to get an MH bulb or CFLs for veg or am I ok with just the HPS? And finally what nutrients would you recommend?

You don't need any pH meter for soil first. Fox Farms is the only way to go in my experience. It's well worth the price. You can veg very well under CFL but get far better results (growth and leaf coverage) using MH. You will have a hard time with 6 plants in that space if you are not experienced. I would go for only 4 and then you would be wise to SCROG those. If you go autoflower you can leave the lights on forever. So forget times if you are doing that. Nutrient brands? There are so many but elemental potassium and phosphorus etc are basics so watch the expense.

And suggests starting feedings at 1/4 strength and no more for newer growers. Watch for signs the plant needs or can even take a feeding. You see far more cases of people overdoing it here than the opposite. It's easy to give them a badly needed feed. It's impossible to "take it back" once you head down that path.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice, legalization is looming here in Ohio and legally we'll only be allowed 4 so I'm cool with just growing that. Should I stick with a 600W MH or drop down to a 400 to veg?

What the good Dr prescribes. You can never have too much light. Always be sure of the proper color temperature (noted in Kelvins or K) you need with the fluorescent units.

Use the MH and the HPS together to veg. HPS alone in veg causes stretch usually. Then when you flip just use the HPS at first. Add the MH again to increase THC the last couple weeks of flower.

Hiya Wake, IF you do go the Auto Route I would plump for smaller Pots tbh, just mho.. but I think you'd be fine with between 15L > 20L Pots for an Auto, BiG Pots are Great! If you intend to Veg for a Long Period.. just a thought..

Tent size is good! I needed a tall, long but not wide tent and I went with 4'Lx2'Wx6'h and I regret everday not getting your exact tent size (the extra 2 feet width!)

Just left htg supply with a trunk full of Fox farms soil! I'm leery of that tent but its hard to pass up for $80. I think I've decided against the auto northern lights, and autos in general. That's really my only real decision left is which strain to go with! Thanks for all the quick replies.

Looks good to me. One suggestion, is to buy the best tent you can afford and don't grow auto flowers.

I agree with both those suggestions, I'm still looking for a better tent that isn't outrageous expensive. They all just seem the same to me, I looked at the agromax tents at htg today and just wasn't impressed with what you get for the money.

Hey Wake you should look at the Apollo Horticulture tents. The are excellent for the price. Im also from Ohio. Cleveland to be exact. Good luck.

LoL, everything else I picked out seems to be apollo as well and coming from the same ebay seller, might as well go with the tent too! Going to be an exciting couple months here in Ohio, I'll literally be amazed if this doesn't pass.

Check out World of Seeds "White Rhino X Mazar i Sharifi. The Mazar is typically a shorter plant and bushy. This strain does well in a small environment like a tent and it will kick your ass. Some of the best smoke this old man has ever had. Period. Screw autos. What a waste of time and energy.

Yeah after some more research the autos don't make much sense, I was just looking at it as one less thing for me to f*** up the first time around. The amount of different strains out there is mind boggling and pretty overwhelming in all honesty. I looked up that White Rhino X Mazar and it says it's indica dominant, I was looking for something that was more sativa than indica, I was honestly leaning in the ak47 direction.

@WakeOhio hey bro welcome to the forum I think the guys are right about Apollo tents it was my first tent and I still have it 4 years later. However don't count off autos because they are fool proof I would honestly suggest ordering some fem seeds from some great breeders like dinafem, rareDankness, karma ect I happen to be a huge fan of Breeders-Boutique(cheapest prices around) they are very active on the site and a lot of growers on the club 600 forum are always giving feedback to their strains and willing to help new guys. But having some autos going while you veg out your photos will ensure you have some smoke during your entire grow. Just a thought.

Nothing to brag about but here is my 4x4 I'm trying to learn how to Scrog looks bad now but in a week or so it will be filled

That's a pretty good looking grow! I can't wait to get started, I've wanted to do this for such a long time. haha The Apollo tents do look really nice for the price, my only concern is on Apollo's website they show them having plastic corners on the frame and I've read more than one horror story about plastic corners. However I watched a review video on youtube of a 5x5 and it had metal corners? I'm going to give them a call Monday and see what's up. I was going to order my seeds from Attitude, probably Nirvana's AK48 .

The apollo tents have metal corners for sure. I own the 5x5, 4x4 and 3x3. Its not a gorilla tent but to me its the best for the price. I dont need anything else. And about autos. Some are good. Ive grown several but the best ive had are dinafem auto white widow and wos afghan kush ryder. But when comparing time, electricity, etc. I'd just go with photos. Btw ive never grow it but I've heard great things about pyramid tutankhamon if youre looking for an ak strain. Sorry for rambling.
