First Grow [Journal of my adventures lol]

well hey guys it's my first grow. i am growing a plant called KC Brains Special Haze.

currently, I have the seeds sprouting, but I do not know if they are really ready to be transferred to soil/rockwool. one of the seed's shell came off, but i believe it's okay and supposed to be like that. i started growing for approx 5 days now with the result of:

my third seed seems to be sprouting late (the shell just finally cracked open)

tomorrow i will be getting myself some soil or rockwool, whichever i find better. I've been meaning to look for this "bag-like" soil thing. i can't really describe it. it's usually for cuttings and its in some air and water porous sack. sort of the texture of a coffee bag and in the shape of some sphere or dumpling. if anyone can help me find out what that is and whether or not it would be a great medium to grow in it id appreciate it

also, ill be getting just 2 CFLs since i only have 3 seeds. should I get nutrients right now or do you think i can wait like 1 week after i've transferred the seedlings to the medium?

please let me know on any tips and tricks if it is beneficial at this stage. thanks

anyone? im getting scared that if i let it grow anymore in my paper towel it's going to grow and stick to it somehow and i will shock it if i transfer to another medium. how long would u guys say I have before i definitely have to transfer it to another medium?

you waited way too long to transfer. looks like your sprouts maybe rotting.

maybe you can still try. grab it with tweezers on the shell and carefully place it in ur medium. If the root gets damaged you may not ge tmuch bud and health issues, or it may simply not grow.

ok i have a question on pc fans. I have an approximate 40mm DC fan that I took from my old computer, but the its a 3 pin connector to the motherboard.

how do I supply power to it without having to use the motherboard? any DIYs? or do I have to buy an adapter or an AC fan altogether?

new pics of my setup. the only problem with it is that I haven't put in fans yet..so as of now I am keeping the lid on the box open to circulate it as best as I can until I find out how to get power to my pc fans.

btw the CFL over there is DIY :D. im so proud of myself lol

EDIT: so my plants are looking pretty green now. not that much growth stunt from the transfer.
working on getting the fans running.

yeah sooner or later i'm going to have to build a bigger box or something else (which also brings the challenge of stealth) since the box is almost 2x2x2 feet.

i just installed the 40mm pc fan for intake but the noise it makes is ridiculous. anyone have a clue on how to reduce the noise ie with a noise filter/muffler of some sort?

well ok now im wondering about humidity. do you think that keeping the plants in the box + some heat off the lights will generate enough humidity? it sorta is a humidity dome itself but meh.

I was thinking that if it wasn't moist enough inside the box, I would take a bottle of water with half of the water still inside it, and just let it sit and evaporate within the box. sounds good or no?

Humidity Cannabis plants can also withstand varying levels of humidity. However, 50% humidity inside your growing room is highly recommended. Using humidity meters in order to track the humidity of your growing room is highly advised for those who have more than a few plants inside their growing rooms. This is the volume of plants inside your growing room is directly proportional to the humidity of your room. This means humidity levels inside a growing room increase as the number of the plants inside the room also increases. High humidity levels can make your growing room a perfect breeding ground for pests and the like.

thanks for the knowledge amnesia. so now i'm trying to find a thermostat with a humidity meter.

this one seems good for a reasonable price $19.99 CAD ($25 USD i think..i live in canada so idk):

Enviracaire Digital Humidity / Temperature Indicator

  • Model:E10C
  • Displays relative humidity and temperature
  • Displays in Fahrenheit or Celsius

do you think that's good enough? looks pretty cool too..

also 2 questions, is it really necessary for me to have an exhaust fan? Can someone give me personal experience on when the plants usually become smelly (even the slightest greenhouse/ANY odor). thanks

Hey Evisu, I just grabbed a crappy weather station for my box from the dollar store. Shows temp and RH, but it always says its going to rain in my box.

As far as smell goes, its dependant on the plant. I have females in flower that have almost no odor, but I just killed a male in veg that my dog stole and it stunk up my yard. (that fucker smelled soooo good) If you are that concerned about smell try and find some ONA gel, it works wonders.
Exhaust fan is probably going to be required.
Anyway it sounds like its coming along nicely, good luck and may your buds be plentiful.

thanks for the info. about the weather station, what is it really? does it run on batteries or does it require an outlet?

now i just need to find some ONA gel and install exhaust fan. thanks again

one question though: every now and then I check up on the plant and it basically bends for the lights. my CFL isn't directly above the plant, so that is the reason it does that. I usually rotate it every few hours or so to let it sort of go straight up. should I be doing this? it seems like it's using its energy to change angles and stuff other than to grow. could I just leave it leaning to a side or will it cause my plant to topple over and grow slanted?

HELP GUYS!!! I ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED ONE OF MY PLANTS AND NOW I THINK I SHOCKED IT!! will it die? it still looks healthy but in a few hours it may not seem so :(. im hoping for the best. but dropping it also made me find out something also wrong with it. it seems to have one of its leaves GLUED onto something. check the pictures and you'll see. sorry for the quality i couldn't seem to focus it onto the plant. i have seen something similar to my other plant, which was the cannabis' inner shell casing. I really believe this is tying my plant's leaf down and im thinking of cutting it loose. Do you think i should proceed?! please help asap !!!

i am curious about the ONA thing. i would like to grow in an apartmen (idk if that's smart) and i would like to get little to NO smell.

you can check out my plant too if youd like. she's only 1 weed and 2 days old today.
