Howdy! As stated, this is my first grow. I'll briefly go over all of the specifics of my grow, and then get you all up to date with where I'm currently at. Pictures will be added very soon.
Genetics: Feminized Girl Scout Cookies (AMS seeds)
Medium: Soil (Fox Farms Happy Frog)
Grow Area: 3.5 ft x 2.5 ft x 6.5 ft grow tent
Light: 1st) Galaxy Hydro 300W LED 2nd) Platinum LED P4-XML2
Base Nutrients: Fox Farms Trio (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom)
Supplemental Nutrients: Advanced Nutrients (Voodoo Juice, Piranha, Tarantula, Bud Candy)
Seeds arrived within 9 business days of ordering, and were immediately germinated on January 20 (T=0 days). Seeds were placed in glass of water overnight until they sank, then placed in Red solo cup with 1/2 perlite, 1/2 Happy Frog with drainage holes in bottom. An immediate problem was stretching, and then low humidity. A homemade humidity chamber was made of cardboard and cling wrap to solve the low humidity. To solve stretching the Galaxy Hydro light was used to ensure adequate food supply for the plants.
T+14 Days: All 3 plants were transplanted from solo cups to 1 gallon smart pots. Mixture: Happy frog, perlite, and Xtreme Gardening Mykos (Mycorrhizal Incoulent).
NOTE: With excellent drainage I was watering them too much. Minimal problem with over watering until later.
T+20 Days: Two plants (Jaws, and Jack) were transplanted from 1 gallon to 3 gallon smart pots.
NOTE: It was way too soon! However, knowledge I had at the time indicated I should transplant too soon instead of too late.
T+24 Days: Jaws had 5 sets of leaves at this point, and Jack had 6 sets of leaves. It was decided to begin a variation of the NugBuckets Mainling method, by using Nebulas Manifold method (Please conduct your own research to determine difference between the two!). Both Jaws and Jack were topped just above the third node, about 1/2 to 3/4 inches above where 3rd node growth was occurring. All leaves below this were cleaned off. Junior was transplanted into a 3 gallon smart pot from 1 gallon.
NOTE: Jaws was stunted for a few days, may have been a bit too soon.
T+27 Days (Feb 16): New light arrived! LED Platinum P4-XML2. Initial impression, very sturdy, large, and well....pretty bad ass. Minor problem; there was a rattling coming from the bearings of one of the exhaust fans. In the following weeks I was able to get a hold of the owner, and he sent me a new fan which I changed out and then the light ran fine from that point forward. Low stress training initiated on Jaws and Junior.
NOTE: There are three switches for lighting: Veg, Bloom, and Boost. I started with Veg.
T+28 Days: Junior had finally grown 6 sets of leaves, was topped to 3rd node and growth cleared below (Same as Jack and Jaws T+24).
T+35 Days (Feb 24): While trying to L.S.T. Junior my inexperience got the better of me. I was trying to create the two distinct sides of the plant. As I was pulling taut with some plant wire, the mainline just snapped from the base, so I only have one side of the mainline. LIGHT: Power increased from VEG only to VEG and BLOOM.
NOTE: Be gentle with LST! "Listen" to your plants.
T+36: Jack had 4 sets of leaves on each side, so next step was to top each side at the 3rd node and clear off all growth on 2nd node (Nebula Manifold Method). This left me with 8 baby colas.
T+39 Days (Feb 28 ): LED to full power. Distance to top of plants approximately 24 inches.
T+41 Days (March 1): Jaws was topped just like Jack, according the Nebulas Manifold method. Since Junior was growing like a champ, it was topped to the 3rd node and the 2nd node was NOT cleaned. This was because I had broken the other side during L.S.T. So, Junior has 6 colas (all on one side).
T+42 Days: Jaws transplanted from 3 gallon container (Smart Pot) to 7 gallon container (Smart Pot).
T+43 Days: Jack transplanted from 3 gallon container (Smart Pot) to 5 gallon container (Smart Pot).
T+52 Days (March 12 - Today): Overall things are going really well! The girls look great, and very healthy. After the latest round of L.S.T. there is nearly a 'flat' top between all 3 plants. Also, I will get some pictures up very soon.
Reasoning/Logic for long veg time and why I used Nebulas manifold method (variation on NugBuckets Mainline method). With limited knowledge available to predict yields I wanted to provide an excellent opportunity to do a high strain quality grow, and get a decent yield. Unfortunately Girl Scout Cookies is NOT recommended if you are seeking high yield, which further adds to my problem. To (hopefully) maximize yield I have decided to #1) Mainline, #2) long vegetative growth and #3) use a powerful LED grow light.
Flowering: I am currently on 18/6, and plan to switch to a 12/12 lighting schedule in 15 days (It will be at T+68 Days from germination).
