first grow need advice!!

ok so im growing for the first time 2 barneys red cherry berry, they are 1 week into flower and looking good problem is they are very dense and bushy not much light is penetrating the canopy. i would like to tidy it up a bit maybe by removing the old bottom leaves. how do i do this without stressing it too much cause im afraid of getting a hermie.

Had the same question myself recently, my veging Blueberry Gum is the same, canopy so dense not much light getting in. The advice I recieved was to leave it, no matter how tempting, as the shade leaves were the power base for the shoots.Not sure if this applies to flowering aswell. Perhaps, if yours is flowering, then she is busy making bud not leaf, so you may be removing leaves that won't be replaced??
I'd take away any leaves that are obviously dying though...could be wrong there also..though..

dont cut any leaves off, get some cable/string and put som esmall holes in the sides of your pot, then tie the branches outward if you know what i mean to break open the canopy. this will let more light through. thats if you have the room. those leaves are all needed and i for one dont agree with taking leaves off. the only other thing you can do is add a few cfls around the base of your grow.

man, i know there many ways to skin a cat, so not to disagree but ill let u in on wut i do. i useually wait till about week 3 in flower, when the buds are starting to open up . then i go through all lower branches and eliminate all nods, and fan leaves from the bottom. these growths are most subject to mites, and it lets the plant focus on top growth. everybody hates triming bottom buds, and there constantly airy. when i take them off i use my trimming scirrors or a razor blade, and hack all bottom shoots off. sometimes bigger fan leaves leak a little clear blood, from the cut. no adverse effects. plant has more air circulation from the base of the stalk to canopy. no bugs. no bullshit to trim.
