Hey all this is our first grow need some help diagnosing the first issue thats popped up so far(pics below).

Grow info
First 8 days were under cheap 2x t5 non h0 30w each

5 days under t5 h0 6x39w (which is what the are currently under)

soil at the moment = peatmoss/potting mix,The soil is very aerated lots of oxygen

Temps are always around 24-27 degrees and it goes upto 30 sometimes for an hour or so when the lights are on/doors are closed, Temps sit around 19-20degrees in the 6 hours that the lights are off.

Problems = The ends of the leaves are yellowish, Also the the power africa's stem is red.

Quick questions
How far would the t5 h0 6x39w get the plants? Will more lighting be required until its time to start flowering?

What colour spectrum should we be using during veg?

Are the leafs burned from heat/being to close to the lighting or may it just be a nutrient deficiency? Suspect that it may need nutrients but we are hesitant to add anything at this age.

any info/tips would be much appreciated

I had the same problem. I read somewhere that it might be chlorinated water that burns and yellows the ends of the leaves, also causing them to curl and turn a brownish yellow color. I heard it also might be heat stress. I read the red stem is plant stress. Lower the light if you think its stretching. Keep it below 85 degrees. If you have an oscilating fan, maybe pull it back so it doesn't blow so heavy on the leaves. These are all things I am trying, seeing what works. Can you post pictures?

oh yeah and if you are too broke for bottled distilled, purified water enriched with minerals for your plants and have to use tap water like me, then let it sit for 24 hours, its suppose to de-chlorinate it.

if u are not giving them nutes give them a weak dose and if u are already giving nutes stop

Links to pics are in the post, My first thought was its heat because i had to have the cupboard closed for close to 2 hours on two occasions where the temps got upto 30 degree's celcius in there, Didnt think that the fan being too close would really effect it but i might also look into that

I have an identical problem.

If it's the soil what should be done?
I use filtered water usually and I let it sit there for 24 hours whenever I can but sometimes I water them directly from the filter too.
Any useful tips?

IMO your soil is too high in N and either doesn't have enough P or K, or your PH is not ideal. I think the red stems and burnt leaf tips are indicative of this. If I were you I would change the soil or even try to cut it down some with perlite. I would also check the ph of your runoff and make sure your in the green zone.
Good luck and happy growing.
