Sorry, the project got moved to the back burner. I'm back on it with my free time as of today though! Today I took the case sides out and spray painted them a bright white. Will upload pics tomorrow afternoonish.
I'm not sure if I'm going to add anymore fans to it. I will have a stream going through the CFLs and also pulling from the box. I'll do a dry run and if the temps are too hot then I'm going to add an intake and possibly another exhaust to cool the case.
I went to a store that sells containers and picked up 2 different size and shape containers. I think the one I'm going to be using is the pretty much the same as this:
Well, Here is where my case is at. I spray painted the inside white per standards.
Picture 1) This is the front intake of the case. Xbox fans wired to charger.
Picture 2) Exhaust fans wired to the same charger as the front fans.
Picture 3) This is what I wish to use as a pot for my soil. I included a lighter to get a relative size comparison. Notice this is not the entire case either! It goes left another 5 inches or so. This is a very long case and the SCROG will give a very nice yield (I hope).
Picture 4) These are the 4 very small fans that I purchased earlier. I want to come up with some form of a DIY carbon scrubber that attaches to the back of the case. It has to case in the xbox fan and the 120mm PC fan. I know that these two will not be strong enough to push the air through the filter so I was considering wiring 4 of those into the middle of the filter to help pull and push the air through.
I need help in deciding on lighting. I would REALLY like to do some sort of HPS & CFL combination. I hear the critics of CFLS complain about bud density and what not so I'd rather just try it right off the bat and see if I like HPS. If I did I would want to go with something like two 50 watt HPS/ a 75w and adapt them to simply plug into a wall outlet. I know there are some issues with longevity of the bulbs being on AC, blah blah blah. The bulbs are cheap enough I'd buy new ones every grow.
Is this possible? How would I do it? What do you think about the lights and the carbon scrubber?
I think for the carbon scrubber you are going to need to simply MacGyver something up. Making it of a sheet of tin might work decent.
Wouldn't it get pretty hot in there with 2 50w HPS'? If you do do that, why don't you try and find security light ones, then you could store the ballast
on the back or something.
Here's some pics of where I'm at.
This is my new fan. I had a 250 CFM computer fan that I could of used,
but saw this 6" duct booster on sale at Princess Auto for $19.99 so I picked it up.
It is also 250 CFM, but nice and quiet due to being quite a bit larger.
