First Grow Plan (Looking for feedback)

Hi guys,

Intro:

I've been lurking and doing lots of research over the past few months. Tired of blowing so much of my hard earned money on meds that I could be cultivating myself. Plus I love knowing I'm single sourcing everything. I'm lucky enough to live in a legal recreational and medical state. It's been 10 years since my last grow attempt. (Hung an old HPS light in a root cellar in the basement and planted some seeds. I knew my mom would never go into that root cellar haha.) So I realize a lot has changed in the past 10 years with growing cannabis. I wouldn't call myself and experienced grower at all. Did one hidden run with minimal effort and got some great buds. Anyways I'm ready to get back into this and am looking for positive feedback towards my grow. I've seen a lot of great inspiration on these forums.

Tentative Plan:

So my budget for supplies is not limited but my space is. That being said I knew I wouldn't have to spend too much to get a decent setup. I'm looking for quality over quantity. I may not be an experienced grower but I am a connoisseur when it comes to good meds. My garden will be a 2'x4' tent in my bedroom. My lighting is a 400 Watt Timber Grow Light Model 4VL in the 3500k spectrum. I decided COB LED's were the way to go from research through these forums. My light arrives next week and I'm beyond excited to begin. Everything else is pretty much ready to go. I have a carbon filter with a 6" inline fan attached to suck air from the tent through the filter and exhaust right back into my bedroom. I also have a 6" inline fan pulling air from the bedroom into the bottom of the tent. I have window to an enclosed porch behind the tent which I could use to exhaust or intake from but in New England I'm afraid the winter temperatures would disturb my garden. I'm open to feedback on this current venting system though. Basically I just want the inline fans to create airflow through the tent. I also have two smaller fans in the tent for more airflow. This has seemed to be the easiest part of planning my garden. Maximizing space efficiently, the part with the least amount of variables.

Next is where I believe I need the most feedback. Currently I have some 5 gallon smart pots. I'm thinking three plants would fill the space best using SCROG and LST. I was thinking of something easy for my first grow and using Fox Farm soil as a medium. I also purchased an Advanced Nurtrients set without fully researching organics vs synthetics. But again I thought this might be easiest on my first grow back. I would love to go with some fully organic amended soil and feed with teas but this seems like a lot to take on at once. Maybe its not and I'm just being fearful. I purchased a cheap soil pH meter and a cheap water PPM tester. I still need to purchase a water pH reader. For genetics I was hooked up with some Exotic Genetix Trap Star free seeds from my buddy who is a very experienced grower. He a had a plant hermie on his first run with this strain. He thinks it was just because it was the first run. He gave me 10 seeds so my guess is that I should pop all 10 and veg them in small pots until they show sex. I can always give the extra girls away if I get more than the 3 I plan to flower.

Thank you for anyone taking the time to read through my journey and I appreciate any positive feedback! I will also continue to be posting my grow log throughout my journey. And I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Seems like you have a pretty solid plan.

You can likely fill the space with 2 plants if youre planning to do any kind of training.

Some ppl will disagree, but imo you dont really need the fan blowing in unless you need it to cool your lights, passive intake is fine as long as it doesnt create a light leak. If you do use the intake fan, make sure it blows in slower than your exhaust sucks out. This will keep negative pressure inside your tent and control your odor better by making sure everything goes through the filter and doesnt leak out of the tent. You want the sides of your tent to be sucked in slightly.

If you are looking for a simple nutrient solution, check this post out. The ppl using it so far seem very happy with it and im starting with it myself this grow.

I've never grown in a tent. But I do know a thing or two about organics and soil science.
First with the footprint you have I'd grow one five gallon pot and veg it for 6 weeks. Then flip it. I'd either supercrop it or LST it for best use of the space. You literally want canopy in every square inch with no wasted apace. Because you have no space to waste.
I'd eliminate the small fans because the inline fans will move the air well enough. If you get the plants branches to move as in a light breeze then that's adequate.
I'm a soil man through and through. If you mix a good fertile, moist, well drained medium initially all you need then is to water throughout the entire grow. No additional nutrition is required. If you use an organic mix but fertilize with chemical nutes you're defeating the purpose of growing organic because you'll be killing the microbes in the soil. And organic is easier. By far. No burn. No guess work. So there's that.
Otherwise I like the description of your proposed set up and I believe you'll do well.
