First Grow Plant Problems HELP!!

Hello guys! this is my first post and also my first grow.

i have a grow box thats about 2x2x3 running 420 Watts of cfl lights, an exhaust fan and a couple intake fans.

my plants are 3 weeks old today and seem to be in the early stages of vegetative growth. I'm not sure what strain they are and I planted them to practice before i buy better quality seeds. The lights are about an inch away from the canopy and my temperatures have been average 79F, they are in 5 in square pots with Fox Farms Ocean Forrest soil and i water them once every 3 days. i have fed them 2 since planting them with a
1.6-1.8-7.4 base and a 2.8-0-0 grow part, i also add a cal-mag supplement from general hydroponics. some of the plants have some brown spots in the bottom leaves and in one plant, the bottom single finger leaves have yellowed and died completely. The spots are apparent in 5 out of my 7 plants and are only visible in the bottom leaves.

any feedback helps. BTW i started feeding and using the cal mag supplement after the brown spots started appearing so i don't think it would be nute burn?????

im fairly new but have you checked for spider mites, and as far as the leaves breaking off you should try and read some of the other forums to find a solution

Don't worry about those lower leafs, they get old and die.
Looks pretty good for your first grow to me.

Watering once every 3 days in 5inch pots at those perfect temps is too much. My 12 day seedlings are under 96 watts of T5 lighting at temps of 80+ with a fan blowing light air over the soil and I don't have to water for 5-7 days at a time usually. The wet/dry cycle is very important in early veg. Let that soil dry out almost completely. I'm also in FFOF soil. You do not need to fed for at least that 3 weeks if your plants are in 100% FFOF. IMO overwatering looks to be your issue.

Notice how the leaves are not drooping down. And don't worry about those first set of true leaves, they almost always die off sooner rather then later. Good Luck

Thanks for the help guys! another question tho, is it common for fan leaves to die that quickly? i mean that are barely 2 weeks old... some of the symptoms looked like a calcium deficiency but i have been feeding with that supplement! i just want my girls to be green and healthy!!!!

When overwatering and/or overnuting, yes, the bottom leaves will die of quicker. If you are in FFOF there will be no cal-mag issue that early on. Cal-mag plus I sometimes use in late veg early flower. I start in solo cups, move to 5 inch square pots within 5-10 days, then transplant into final pot, usually 4 or 5 gallon within 2-3 weeks. If issues continue transplant into larger container and let them dry out in between waterings. By that I mean almost completely dry, you should learn to do this by weight of the container, lift after watering and remember that feel, then lift after so many days and feel the difference. You can drench your girls in water, in my 4 gallons I sometimes water with 2 gallons per container, you want 20-30% runoff on average. The key is to not water when the soil is wet or moist, only when dry.
Also remember. When transplanting into new pot you are of course using new soil, so there is no need to fed nutes at all until 2-3 weeks after last transplant. A person could probably keep transplanting into new soil and never have to fed nutes, but I begin nutes about 2-3 weeks after final transplant which brings me to about week 1 in flower or my last week in veg if I veg longer then usual. Cal-mag, Protekt, root stimulators and things like humic acid could be introduced early on, but not actual nutes.

Overwatering and overnuting are THEE most often mistakes made by new growers, trust me, I know from making those mistakes.

Also be sure to add dolomite lime to soil in the final pot to keep pH in balance as the ingredients used in FFOF to do this is too little. Anywhere from 1/2 TBSP to 2 TBSP's per gallon of soil. Only about 1/4 of the dolomite actually works being it takes a few moths to fully activate, but it helps enough to keep cal and ph in balance. Doesn't hurt to have the CalMagPlus around either for late veg an dearly flower.

Ok.. Ive had this plant growing since January and it's like stuck in the young flowering stage and it's lost it's smell.... I need help I'm growing with soil, indoor, closet set up and the smell is gone... My plant is about 5ft and like I said in the young flowering stage.. Any advice

Arro that plant looks pretty healthy maybe just overwatered, nice fat stem on her!
