First Grow & Post.....got a couple questions!

Whats up everyone....I'm a first-time grower and also this is my first post on the site.

A couple of weeks ago my homeboy got an oz of some fire ass weed(cost him 800 for the oz) from North Carolina. I am from a small country town in Alabama but I have seen alot of exotic weed and this is the most dankest, fluffy, crystalized weed I have ever seen. Long story short.....the bud sold for 30 a gram so I picked up about 5 grams.....breaking it down to load a bowl and I find a seed. After alot of research I went and got some supplies. I germinated the seed and planted it when the tap root popped out. It has been a week and 4 days since I planted. I will list my setup and I would just like a few pointers or if you see that im doing something wrong please let me know.

I am using 2 24" Fluorescent tube lights(75 watts each) on a 24/0 light schedule.

I used Miracle Gro soil.

I water every other day, or when the soil gets too dry.

I have a 4" fan blowing on the plant

I bought some Miracle Gro All Purpose Fertilizer( i dont remember the exact forumla but the Nitrogen % was 24 i think)



I would like to get better lights, but I do not want lights that will shoot up my power bill. Should I keep the Fluros or is there a better light that will not be any or much more exspensive?

Please get back to me with any advice/tips/pointers ect....

800 an oz huh? For those prices you could be starting an empire out there in AL.

As for lights, you will find all sorts of opinions, some expensive, some not so. For power saving, I recommend Compact Flourescent Lights or CFLs. The 100watt incandescent equivelent CFL only uses 27 watts of energy, so I use those. I also use a blue spectrum plant light, but it gets hot so be careful where you put it.

i don't know if u guys in the caralinas no ur drug dealing too well since ur dealer only made 40 bucks (threads like this make me love socal) but to get to the point i would not use miricle grow ferts. and if u do cause ur in some dire need of money well don't use too fuckin much (can u tell ive had an experience with the shit) but o ther than that i can't think of much. i love those 2 footer flouros for my seeds too. but when those babes get bigger i'd invest in some 4 footers or even better some hid action. and i can't say i've ever used miricle grow soil but i can't say i ever would if u no what i mean. hate to sound like a dick i just want people on the east to taste some dank too,(and lemme tell u growin ur own is the best way to do it)

Yeah alabama and the south east in general sucks...we have to get all our dank from Cali, Denver, Texas. We can get some pretty dank shit outta ATL, but not as good as that Cali bud. I actually went to Bakersfield , CA this past summer and loved the weed. Money isnt really an issue in the grow, but me and a friend have a house and our parents pay the electricity bill. I just dont want it to throw a red flag to the parents. I can get any light as long as it dosent jump up the power bill too much.

HA u can not get ANY light brotha. i did not know u lived with ur parents and will say 1. if they dont know ur growing don't do it they could go to jail 2. if u don't care what i say then your gonna need some flouro tubes. or u can get cfls if u only plan on have one maybe two small plants, but if u got access to an attic or crawlspace or something then u might be able to conceal the tubes and ur babe, i'd say go with tubes cause u wont have to worry about noise or heat, yay! but if u deside to move out get hid lights for the tightest biggest dankest buds. (hps and mh lights are too bright, too loud, and too much for u though) oh and i don't know ur situation but i'd research some guerrilla growing if i werse u. but ur gona need to think hard about camoflogin and even with it ur gona get found out i garentee it

I think you misunderstood what i was saying....1) I DO want to hear what you have to say. 2) Me and a friend have a house to ourselves....our parents just pay the electricity bill.....they do not live here. Are the HID lights good for Veg and Flowering?

oh fuck i misunderstood, yea hid are primo, mh for veg and hps for flower, but if ur short on dough and are only getting one I'd say go hps, so what kind of setup up are y'all thinkin of?
