First Grow Questions

so i know i could look for these questions but im lazy and need someone to answer them for me

i just planted a seed straight into the soil and have it under 2 23 watt cfl's. i was wonder how close should i keep the lights to the soil, and was also wondering how long it would take till i see a sprout?

also, how long should i veg them for if i see a sprout? 2 weeks or 1 week veg, then induce flowering? what have some done? any advice is would be good.

you should see a sprout in under a week or so.. keep the lights about four or so inches away from the plants at first, but as they get bigger, move them a lil closer a lil at a time till they are about an inch away from them..
as to how long to veg for, that is up to you and how big you want them to be and how much you would like them to yeild... the longer that they veg for, the bigger they will get, and therefore the bigger your yeild will be.. i like to veg them untill they reach sexual maturity, you can tell this by a)either seeing preflowers, or b) when the nodes, branches stop coming out evenly..
you have to understand though that they will more than likely atleast double in size or maybe even triple in size when you put them into flower, so if hieght is an issue, you will have to figure out how tall to let them get before you induce flowering..

ok...you should really do some research..first you jump in..it makes things alot easier..you dont need light until the sprout breaks the soil

and keep the light at like 8 cms from the seedling.. i would veg for as long as u can if your want more yeild

dark and warm is what the seed wants

so i dont even need light till it breaks the soil? kinda to late for that i guess i already put it under 2 23 watt cfls. its about 3to 4 inches from soil. is this ok? i planted the seed straight into the soil no germination. thanks for all your answers but they are really vague. oh ya the seed has been under the soil for about 2 days now and no activity.

well today i looked and saw some green!!!! its not fully erect but i can see 2 leaves ready to be! its got that arch look to it. its been three and a half days since i planted the seed straight into the soil, no germination. no 1 has really answered my questions here in newbie central but i did get some info out of it. like to keep the seed warm and dark. its been on 18/6. the lights are 2700k im planning on getting 6500k in a day or two, maybe even today who knows. i have the ghettoest setup that only cost me 10 bucks ( for the lights-4 pack 23w soft whites- Homedept) I love to see sprouts, makes me happy. ill post a pic of my setup and the sprout once i get some 6500 bulbs should be in a day or too. i will be making a journal im excited!
