First Grow - SH Bubbleponics - CFL

This is my first grow and things seem to be going fairly well. I currently have 4 lemon skunk plants. Two of them I transplanted from soil when they were 3 and 5 days old (currently 12 and 14 days old). The other 2 sprouted in the bubbleponics system and are both 10 days old. My oldest plants leaves seem to be curling in towards each other and I don't know why??? :?

Couple Pics (not the best quality)
Pic 1 - Curly Leaves anyone know why?
Pic 2 - All 4 of the hopefully soon to be bitches  2 in front are 10 days, 2 in back are 12 and 14 days (Raised lights a bit for pics)

Another thing is I keep finding these little bugs with wings in my grow closet, they're never on the plants and don't seem to be hurting them at all unless this is the cause of the curly leaves?.. Should I be concerned about this? All thoughts/support is welcomed.

thanks n happy tokin' :blsmoke:

How much nutrients are you giving them? looks like you added too much.

Those bugs flying around could be fungas nuats and you want them gone.

Well the system comes with pre-packaged grow and bloom nutes. I have been giving them half the grow/micro nutes when I flush and add new water (every 7 to 10 days).. Then the other half the next day on Roseman's recommendation (he uses this system as well). If I added too much nutrients wouldn't the younger plants be doing the same thing as well? doesn't make sense to me...

yeah this is the system I am planning on using to, with the duel spectrum lights and all. Your plants are lookin mighty fine. If there's any way you could take a picture close up of the internodes we could tell u if they're male or female unless they just haven't begun to pre-flower

Thanks purp! Yes, I will be taking more pictures of better quality when I can get my hands on another camera (within the next day or 2). No way to tell the sexes yet because the oldest is only 14 days into veg, youngest is 10. I plan to veg them for about 30-35 days then flower. I may switch to an HPS light for flowering but I don't know yet.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I've spent quite some time reading posts...(this is my 1st grow too).

I'm using the same setup you are, except I veg. with a 400w MH. I didn't flower soon enough...so my plants are now about 5' out of that little SH box....and those netted pots don't like to stay in place when they're that tall...but I digress..

I read in a few places that, especially with the 1 tank bubbleponic units, flushing the system has caused more documented harm than good. (could something get in/onto the roots while they're exposed during flushing...maybe even just alot of light? I've never flushed since I started...I just wait until the water level is about 2" from the bottom and refill it with a new nute/micro pack. And they couldn't be healthier. When the water level in the tank is on the lower 50%, the upper half of the rootmass is above water getting air...so I don't worry about keeping it at a constant 6 gal.

Doesn't really offer you any solutions, but do your own research and come to your own conclusions about flushing.

--Last minute thought - After I reread what I was about to post, I realized that your plants aren't going to have roots coming out of the netted pots yet....and everything I've said doesn't apply to you quite yet...but I hope it helps in the coming weeks.

thanks panessa I appreciate the help, I was wondering if flushing without the drainage plug would harm the roots...seeing as they're exposed and what not. What you said does apply to me because all my plants have roots growing well into the water, very rapid root growth with this system. I'm def gonna try your method and see how my plants react. Thanks for the tips

yeah this is the system I am planning on using to, with the duel spectrum lights

you should just go to wally world and buy a couple packs of daylight 26w 6500k lights using a soft white and a daylight light isnt even good one side of your setup is getting flowering light and the other is getting veg light ??? how is that good? lol i cant see how sh sells it like that cfls are dirt cheap and youre gunna need alot more then just 2 if you want anything from 4 plants

My mistake, I can't remember how tall my plants were before I paid attention to the roots coming out of the pots. I've been so excited about all this I've failed to keep track of much.

Like I've said before, I've read at least 2 other posts with people with the same setup having health issues right after they flushed. Its got to have something to do with the root structure.

Since I've never flushed...and there's that constant minimum of 2-3" of water in the system, I don't heat the water like I've read about some doing, but I will try to pour my cold nute water into an area of the tub that has no roots(toward the end, real estate starts getting expensive)...not to sure if that would shock them or not.

Don't have room for a bunch of 26 watt CFL's nor do I feel like dealing with more then 2-3 of them, Also as I stated earlier I am probably going to switch to an HPS light for flowering. If you check out Roseman's thread/gallery about this system you will find the dual spectrum lights are more then enough to get the job done for veg, but if u want the tight, compact, dense nugs you should flower with an HPS light.

Same here panessa. I get excited everytime I go to check on them  I'm gonna flush once more and see how they handle it, then try your method... We'll see how things work out I'll keep u posted.

Been a while since I've updated. They're currently between 2 and 3 weeks old. Changed water and added half strength grow nutes on Saturday, another half on Sunday. These prepackaged nutes seem to give my plants a chemical burn of some sort... Against Roseman's advice I think I'm going to switch to FoxFarm's Cha Ching, Beastie Bloomz, and Open Sesame for flowering rather then using SH's prepackaged nutrients. Does anyone else advise against this?

Day 19/17 for the two oldest
Day 15 for the young ones

Some Pics

Thanks n I'll try and update as much as possible =]
