First Grow Short Stuff #1 CFL Auto

So this is my very first grow. Kinda winging it. Read some things in here and other sources to get started. Going super poor man cause well, adult responsibilities. Lol. Anyways. Got some short stuff #1 auto feminized in the post. Started by trying to germ in the paper towel method. Got impatient and I guess a little worried it wouldn't pop and just planted it in a pot with pre moistened soil and perlite covered it with plastic wrap and threw my lights on over it. (9 x 60watt cfls) probably over kill but I'd read that other than paying a cinch more for the electric bill it wouldn't hurt the plant per se. But about 2 1/2 days later I had a tiny seedling. And I was relieved. Its almost 3 days since it sprouted. I'll attach a pic. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give for my first experience with this keeping in mind I probably won't be able to spend any more money. Lol. Thanks a lot.

its one of the biggest PITA ...ever

that said it never disappointed at all ..lol

it does what it says on the packet ..lol

I hate the smell with gleee

I hate the stone, and promise myself never to toke or grow again

and it slips its way outta the freezer to the damp towel every time

I got over 50 different strains in my freezer, the fucker leaps out everytime ...lol

but is popular with close friends ...lol

The stone creeps up on you

where as I like the Axe to the back of the head stone

typical of say white widow, NL and others

its composed of some classic phenos including Williams Wonder (ugh)

northern lights 2 (ok) and a ruderalis that should be banned.

ensure your cfl's are 50/50 warm to cool white about 2 inches from the top most tip

a small fan is good, look thru my blog on autos

glad to here they are feminized now, perhaps they'll fade to hell faster ...lol

you will need 20-50 plants to yield a good crop, or 2 plants per J.

Not terribly bad... youll get a whiff now and then. If odor is a concern, you probably should have waited to start until you have enough for a fan/scrubber set up.

You're probably right. I was thinking about doing some ona gel in the next room just to like kill whatever smell may escape. I was really just hoping that just one plant and it having the NL genetics would make for less trouble. Kinda the reason I chose this specific strain. Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts on ONA?

Just a little update. She seems to be thriving so far. Day 9 and her next little leaves are coming out. Cool to watch the process.

Hey guys. So it's officially 2 weeks now and here's a little pic. I'd like to do some very light LST with her like a couple tie downs to get the bang for her buck. Can anyone let me know based on the pic about when I could start with that? Thanks.

Any chance of buying some bigger bulbs? That 130 or so watts your currently using is going to limit the size, growth and yield considerably. Ive boughten the 23w (100w equiv) cfls from the dollar store. Both 6500k and 3000k. But you did mention not wanting to spend any more money, not sure if $10 counts

Id think your losing to much of your light to the ceiling the way youve got the cfls horizontal, needs a diy custom reflector

I think you're right. I did grab a couple in the 2700k range. I'm gonna probably grab some more this week in the other spectrum. As far as the reflector yeah that's true. It was one of the things I was worried about. What do you think of the growth so far? It's a short stuff #1 so I was kinda just thinking its supposed to be small. Let me know please any advice or notes are always appreciated.

So I've replace 4 of my 5000k 13 watt bulbs with 23 watt bulbs and I'm hoping this should be sufficient for the duration of the grow. I'm probably not too far out from flowering so I plan to switch some of the smaller 5000k to 2700k at that point. But I'll keep the wattage the same. I believe my total wattage is around 170.

Just a quick question. I'm like 25 days in and according to Short Stuff these should begin flowering at around 20. I'm in no rush as I'd like to keep manipulating the canopy but I just wanna be sure I'm not doing something wrong. Anyone know. Or is it just a bit different from plant to plant?

So I went ahead and replaced every bulb in there with 23 watt cfl. So I'm at 230 watts total. Thanks for the advice. I definitely want to get the most for bang for my buck.
