First grow Temp/Humidity

Hey guys, I planted 2 seeds into the soil 2 days ago under 250w MH bulbs 45" away and they are now beginning to sprout.
My temp fluctuates between 78-83F but is almost always at 81F. My humidity is between 75-85% depending on how the temp changes. Are these good numbers? I keep checking on them and playing with the humidity to get it to stay constant but I think it might okay to just leave it like this.

Your humidity is high your going to get PM ( powdery mildew ) if it stays like that or maybe even something worse. For veg you don't want to go over 70% humidity and when your in flower you want it below 50% humidity. Powdery Mildew is the most common but there are also some nasty molds that can take hold if the humidity is too high. So you want to bring the humidity down what ever way you can. I would try adding more ventilation first if that doesn't get you were you need to be you might need a dehumidifier.

I agree with Java, that seems pretty high on the humidity. Im still new to this, but after trying to keep things as exact as I could I just let my plants go :P turns out I was killing my girls with too much attention, but now im doing good. Just give your plant enough water and light, and decent conditions with some air flow, and sit back and watch!

with a 250 watter, 45" seems a bit far away. mid 70's is a good temp. to shoot for. your rh is ok, but 85 is getting up there. pm is not that big of an issue in veg, as it is in flower. get it down to 40-50% in flower. i think your numbers are good for veg.

Thanks for all the advice everyone!

The reason I put the light so far away is because I read that HID bulbs can be too strong for young seedlings and to keep it about 3-4 ft. away when they're sprouting. I keep reading to test the light distance with the back of your hand but it doesn't burn even when my hand is really close. What distance would you recommend I keep it at at this point?

The temp has stayed constant at 81F I brought down the humidity to 65% because of the powdery mildew thing and I read that veg plants are fine with 60-70% humidity, should I keep the numbers like this?

3 feet is normal but probably a little closer cause its a 250w. If the seedlings start to stretch lower it until they stop lol

Ya that rh is fine and if you ever get pm try horsetail tea. It clears it up and is safe to spray on buds.
Horsetail Tea

put 100grams in 2L of water overnight, then filter out the horsetail, you should be left with brown undiluted horsetail tea.... add 8L of water to get 10L of diluted tea.... heat over stove for 20 minutes, then wait to cool.

spray this for 3 days onto plants with PM, then in a week spray for another 3 days

Thanks, I brought the light down a little it looked like they were starting to stretch.
Also thanks so much for the recipe, although I hope I never have to use it i like to be prepared!

when your stem is like 2-3 times that length, that's stretching. you look good. keep your eye on them, you'll see it coming, then lower the light a bit...

Thanks for clarifying that for me, I ended up lowering the light a few inches. Today is the first day of week 2 and I noticed one of my plants' leaves have started curling up while the other seems fine. I read that it might be heat stress so i raised the light about 6" and put a clip fan inside the tent in case my cool tube was creating hot spots.

You can see what I'm talking about in the photos. Does the color of my plants look okay? Do you guys think it's heat stress or some sort of magnesium or calcium deficiency?
