First grow. THC Bomb and bag seed in LED cabinet

Hey everybody and welcome to my long awaited first grow. I've been smoking for about 15 years and studying growing (forums, jorge Cervantes, etc.) off and on for about 10 years but I've never had the start up money, useable location and spousal permission all at the same time. .. until now.

So I built a small cabinet in my closet that measures approx 54" x 20" x 66". Pictures to come later. I plan on dividing it later with card board or something else fairly cheap and easy to create a 20" x 20" veg area and a 34" x 20" bloom area. My plan as it stands right now is to keep 1 or 2 mothers bonsai in 9" round pots and put 4 clones in flower every two weeks. But I have been contemplating main lining one of my mothers for flower to compare yields between 1 larger plant and 4 smaller ones, but since square footage is my most limiting factor right now I think SOG may be more ideal for me. In order to become dealer- free I will need to harvest a dried ounce every two weeks, hopefully this isn't setting the bar too high for the space I have.

I'm using fox farm happy frog for medium and the general organics go box for nutes. I've been using distilled water for them and the last 2 irrigation cycles I added calmag, diamond black and bio roots @ 5ml/g each. I know feeding too early is a common noob mistake but they all have a very low to no npk and from what I gathered from reading the bottle bio roots and black diamond are more for promoting a living soil than directly nourishing the plants, but they did respond very well after both applications. feel free to tell me I'm wrong here cause I already know that I probably am. Any way the solo cups they are in dry out in about 48 hours so every other day they will be getting this mix until I see evidence that I need to add anything more.

For lights I chose to use the reflector series from topled. I got one 48x3w for veg side and one 96x3w for my flower side. They aren't high end lights but I've seen good enough results with them that I decided these lights are probably better at growing weed than I am right now and all they have to produce is 1 oz to cover the cost of both panels.

My temps range from 79 - 84. I can't really afford to keep my thermostat below 80 so i won't get any cooler than that til October probably. I will be adding a 4" centrifugal fan with a carbon filter when I begin flowering to replace the 4.5" computer fan I'm using for extraction now. I think that should at least move enough air that the temp doesn't go up as high in the afternoon (west facing exterior wall is the back wall of cabinet).

So finally here's a couple pics. The first two are bag seed that sprouted on 6/1 and the second 2 are thc bomb sprouted on 6/4. Any comments and tips welcome.

Small update, Monday evening and yesterday evening I had to leave my cabinet doors open for a few hours because I went to check on the temp about an hour after lights on and it had spiked up to 86. That was 4pm, right about the time the sun sets just enough that it blasts my grow cabinet. I know that the temp was only 80 a half hour before lights on cause I like to peak in when I get home from work. I don't like leaving my doors open, especially during lights on because the last thing I need is my daughter asking what the purple light in my closet is. So after 2 days reading through the thread and weighing my options I have decided to switch to a 12/12 from seed perpetual. This way i can hold off turning the lights on untill the sun is down. I'm gonna hold off on mothers and cloning at least until the days get a little shorter.

So it's been a little over a week since i flipped my seedlings to 12/12 and everything is pretty much status quo. My lights come on at 7pm now and my temps don't go above 82 so i'm happy about that. I transplanted all 4 into 1/2 gallon pots on saturday 6/14 and my second batch of seedlings (2 more thc bomb and 2 more mexican bricks) sprouted on tuesday 6/17. My new inline fan got delivered the other day and i hope to install that and my larger led panel this weekend if i get a chance. once i get that done i'll post some pics of the cab, i just feel wierd showing it off before its done. but i do have some new pics of my almost 3 week olds.

Mexi #1. She was getting way taller than everyone else so i topped her at the 3rd node on 6/17 and all 3 nodes are now showing new shoots.



Mexi #2 This one is my favorite so far, fast growing with a tight node structure.



The THC Bombs are kinda bumming me out cause they haven't been as vigorous as the brick weed seeds. they have just as many nodes but they just haven't spread out and the stems are still very soft like sprouts.

Thank you for sharing with us, I have a THC bomb waiting to sprout but I want to see if anyone else gets good results too because I only have one. That one might be the holy grail you know .

Nice looking plants. Is the Mexican Brick from the same batch of seeds? Are you gonna take clones from all of b4 12/12?

Thanks guys. I guess an update is way overdue. I've got a few pics I took the other night but haven't had time to upload anything. Of the four plants pictured above all but the Mexi brick #1 have been culled on account of being male. Same goes for 2 of the plants sprouted on 6/17. I'm running 12/12 from seed now mostly because of heat issues that crop up if try to run my lights during the day, but also I feel like I'm utilizing my space a bit better than if I had made 2 super small cabinets out of it.

@burnseedless yeah the Mexi beans I have popped are all from the same half o of brick weed, but I've added a few more seeds to my jar recently so future sprouts won't always be the same genetic even if I call them the same. I'm not real interested in clones right now but after I pay off the credit card that financed this build I do plan on adding veg space.

Right now I've got one Mexican brick and one thc bomb that are about 1 week into flower and Mexi brick #1 is still alive and kicking. After topping mb#1 still kept stretching so she become my test bitch for supercropping and such so the sTress has prevented her from going into flower yet, but she had confirmed sex for me so I'm gonna keep her around awhile just to see what she does.

I'm going camping this weekend and have my plate full at work all week so I make no promises but I will try and put up some photos soon.

I took a few photos over the week end . Everything is chugging along well, i started counting days of flower from the time pre flowers appeared. Also I did get a wild hair up my ass and i cut a decent size shoot off MB#1 for a clone experiment. I used raw honey instead of rooting gel and stuck the cutting in a cup full off happy frog with a zip lock bag for a dome. It's been out of the dome for 3 days now and I haven't misted it in 2 days, no new growth yet but it's not wilted either so I think it probably is rooted.

Hey everybody I had some time today so i took a couple photos and i thought i would do a small update.

First off I decided to kill Mexi Brick #1 because she was getting way too bushy and taking up too much space for a plant that had been under 12/12 for practically 2 months and was still showing no signs of beginning flower anytime soon. The 2 girls i have budding right now started stretching and developing small flower sites from the time they showed gender. I kept the clone i took off it however so we will see if that does any better. Cloned under 12/12 i was actually surprised it took at all but i just transplanted it out of a 16 oz party cup that was getting close to being root bound even though she has only added three nodes since since the time she was cut from mama.

As for my flowering plants the brick seed plant is definitely gonna finish first. THC Bomb is only 2 days behind in terms of when they first showed pistils, but just by looking at her you'd think she was 3-4 weeks behind. The brick seed settled at a final height of 17 in. tall and the top cola is 7 in. of that. New pistils have started slowing down and red hairs are just starting to form. Trichome development has really taken off in the last week or so and she is starting to get this wonderful rotten fruit stink that i associate with many buds i see being labeled as "kush" of some sort. My guess is that she will be done somewhere around day 55-65, but i haven't noticed any calyx swelling starting to occur yet so she may have more time than that. She recently caught a case of mag def that literally appeared overnight, but it had been almost 7 days since her last nute feeding so i just went ahead and fed her as i was planning too anyway. The next day there were no new deficiency signs so i'm gonna double her calmag dose on plain watering and stick to the GO feed chart for feeding. I did defoliate her a little today because all the old rust spots were bothering me and i figured it might not hurt the trichomes on the lower buds to get a little extra light.

THC Bomb is almost done stretching and she is finally starting to focus more energy on flower development. After starting flower around 11-12 in tall she is now at a (hopefully) finished height of 33 in. I've seen the breeder recommend people buy the regular version of this strain instead of the fem because of a sativa pheno that they say is quite extraordinary, this has got to be that pheno. I've been worried that the yeild would be shit because of all the stretching and small leggy buds, but i pulled her out of the cabinet today for photos and it looks as if the top 1/3 of the plant could grow into a fairly large spear if i'm lucky. My prediction right now is that this plant won't be ready until at least day 90-100, but i'm ok with that. Out of the ten pack i bought i have so far popped only 1 female, 4 confirmed and culled males, 1 plant justed showed what look like male preflowers and i had 1 seed fail to germinate. Since i'm running low on seeds and my 12/12fs perpetual set up doesn't really lend it self to cloning i'm going to grow out this probable male thc bomb that i've got and hope that he drops some pollen in the next 2 weeks, cause if he does then i'm gonna pollinate a couple lower branches on this girl and hope she has enough time left in her cycle to produce some viable F2 seeds for me.
