Something that I really enjoy about this hobby is how much you learn with each grow. What not to do, what to do the next time. Always having that possibility of an even greater outcome the next time keeps you coming back for another grow. I never realized how many variables, techniques, and experience comes into play when growing. Its one of the few hobby's that will only have the potential to get you so far by just researching. 80% of your success HAS to come from pure individual experience. every single persons grow is in some way shape or form unique and different and not duplicated anywhere else. different lights, mediums, nutrient regimens, environment, available space, temp, RH, and so on and so forth. Its nice to see someone who can be honest with there grow and create some sort of constructive criticism for next time.
I completely agree! I'm almost done with my first grow and I already have soooo many plans on how to improve next time around. I've become kinda obsessed. Lol

The heat difference is negligible.

I don't know why people got this idea in their heads that LED's are not as hot and cut your temperatures in half. They don't. At best, you're looking at a 2 or 3 degree difference ambient.

In fact, in a cool tube with a vent and fan, the 600 hps will run much cooler than your LED will by far.

In the end, if that's going to be the straw that breaks the camels back of your grow, then you're living on the edge an not doing things right to begin with.

If you have the 600, you can throw your 400 in the garbage. It will be completely redundant.

Glad im not the only one who feels like they have been obsessing. There is something therapeutic about it as well. Watching them start from seed or clone and eventually up to the point of having massive buds. I've been building my 2002 wrx for 5 years . And have found myself taking a break from building it to pursue this newly found hobby lol

That's so funny you said that! Ive been building a '13 genesis coupe and Ive gotten so distracted with this grow that I have a stack of parts I haven't gotten around to installing. Haha.

Badass man! Those genesis sound so fucking good. Love the body style. I literally just picked up my Subaru from my tuner a few days ago. Had a stage 2 shortblock built. Forged piston rods yada yada. Still on my break in tune. There's always room for 2 hobbies in my opinion. Haha. Atleast with our hobbies , one has the possibility of financing the other haha. What state you living in bud?

I'm in Nevada, carson city area. I'm a super big car guy. I go to SEMA every year and dwell on all the beautiful cars I'll never have. Haha. I got a semi rich brother though so I can still experience some of the high life. Lol He just finished a cts-v build at 860 whp. Thing is an absolute monster.
Hope you the best of luck on finishing your subie. I've ridden in a couple fully built subies and they can be pretty badass. Great motor to work with.

You in carson? Wtf. No way. The chances of that are downright impossible. Haha
Man I would love to meet up and talk grow stuff sometime. That's the one thing I always think about... wishing I knew other people who were growing to bullshit with and bounce ideas off of. Drop me a message in my profile if you're for real.

I think a 600 watt HPS would be cheaper than that 450 vipraspectum LED http://www.ebay.com/itm/250w-400w-600w-1000w-Watt-HPS-MH-Grow-Light-Kits-Adjustable-Reflector-Hood-Set/382013852329?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=650932478133&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 and my 150 watt HPS out performs any of the cheap 300 watt LEDs I've tried (mars hydro, meizhi) as well as a 130 watt DIY using bridgelux eb strips (159 lpw at 700ma) and only cost $60. and my 150 watt hps actually produces less heat than my mars hydro.with my T5s I get good buds 24 inches down the stalk.but it requires proper training to open the plant so that the light can get past the canopy.
Definitely bro. A 600 would do better for cheaper initial cost.
Training, I believe, is one of the biggest contributing factors as far as yield is concerned.

Dude, I started growing like 3 years ago, thinking "All I'm going to have to do is read shit on this forum and do the minimum and I'll be growing like a pro this first grow!" Shiiiet, was I mistaken.
My first grow was complete shit, but each consecutive grow has always shown improvement in some aspects whether it be training, nute issues, heat issues, early harvesting, etc.
I don't know when I'll ascend to the God status of a decent portion of members on this board, but it will be something I'll continue to strive for till I do.
Like you said, there's so many variables that need to be dialed in, but it's the best feeling to keep progressing. :weed:15038275595721128796353.jpg

longer veg time and aggressive training are the easiest ways to get higher yield I have grown with T5s,HPS and LEDs and with the right strain they will all grow plants. grower knowledge and skill is the most important factor and no amount of money can replace that.a $2000 led is not going to turn a novice into an expert. only time and work will do that

Here is a little update on my afghani #1's. About day 37 of flowering. Buds are dense not fluffy at all. There are still new pistils growing and one plant looks to be a it slower than the other. I vegged 9 weeks because of my auto grow that I was finishing. These girls got tall for my grow room. image.jpgimage.jpg I'm positive a cob system would be a huge improvement. One day I'll upgrade.

It's the plant sucking nutrients ( nitrogen mostly ) for the lower usually low light receiving leaves. It's normal but can become a problem if it creeps to the top of the plant. So if theyre only the lower low light leaves your fine.
I just went through the same thing on all my plants and they're doing great.
Also you'll notice when people flush at the end of flower all the leaves will do this as the plant suvks up the remaining nutrients.

As a matter of fact here's what I just pulled from my tent :)

Thanks loads...was hoping it was that :-) if it did creep up to the higher leaves would you add a nitrogen supplement?
I had been running into the same issue, just upped my ppm for flower nutes (running botanicare pro) and Cal mag+.. worked like a charm.. the really yellow ones dropped but the rest are recovering... If you are on week 8 (56day) you should be flushing already or very soon depending on strain.
