First grow..vipaspectra 450w led

Hey all,
Just put into flower...american pie which is a cross between power plant and white widow.
Using Canna feeding guide with cal mag supplement...as the title says my first ever grow so any tips would be great......ill update pics as i go...

Looks healthy. The Vipars really veg well..

Your scrog may not be exactly right, but it will work. You want to spread the branches as far as possible and then let them grow back up under the net. Over the next few weeks you will get a big increase in growth. You want to push the new growth under the net, horizontally, and let them grow back up. Or... you could possibly use another layer to the scrog,.
 
CHEERS SUNNY, iv just flipped to flower with the intention of tucking for at least 2 weeks more...was going to veg a bit longer but im on a timer. need to harvest late september as im away for a while then.
 
basically what Sunny said, but if you've flipped to flower no biggie. Question. How high is you LED above canopy? You can safely sit at 6-10" to be right in the butter zone.
 
Iv got the led 15 inches according to the manufacturer instructions..will nearer be ok? im going on holiday in september so iv worked out 70 days backwards from there including a week of flush so had to flip on july 1st ...i know what you mean though, a few more weeks vwg would have been great. im seeing new bud sites each day so ill keep tucking for a few more weeks and hopefully expose a few more as it spreads. just cant wait to see some signs of budding..hehe..wish id done this years ago..
 
iv bought loads of small cable ties..do you think i could tie most of the plant down to the scrog and keep doing that for the next few weeks to try spread it??
 
How do, watching here as I'm having a first go with a Viparspectra as well----6 to 8 inches from the tops you say---mines is around 18 inches so so maybe need to raise them--Ace your plants look great, thing Ive found is allow 10 days or so after the flip to 12/12 before you start your day count--if it says 70 days on the seed pack its likely to take 80.
 
cheers bilbo..is that normal or you find vipaspectras take a bit longer?? iv allowed 70 days plus 5 for flushing so 75??
 
I have found that when they say 70 days to harvest, they don't include the "stagnant" flip time that Bilbo is talking about. I always allow at least 2-3 weeks additional time to compensate for the flip time, along with extra time for possible issues. But I never, EVER, base my harvest off days, it's always based on trichs.
 
good advice...iv heard when about 60% of the trichs have turned cloudy is the time to harvest?? would you agree Dodge?
 
I believe the longer you wait the more "couch lock" you get, I believe you want to harvest when you have 30% amber and the rest are milky. GL with your grow!!!
 
To keep things simple it hard to be as specific really--50/50 is what I go for but its confused by the fact that the buds at the top are loaded with ripe trichs while buds a little further down are still clear
 
iv got little zip ties..tiny ones..as this stretch is going on for the next 2 weeks, should i just keep tying the branches down to the scrog? try keep the canopy even?
 
You can take the mature buds as they ripen fully , don't forget whilst waiting for these trichomes to turn amber we are building flavournoid and terpine complexity oh and let's not forget a lil extra weight;)

Yes you can you'll be exposing nodes to more light that will in turn give you more bud, so even though your screen isn't filled completely you can take advantage of what is basically a scrog x LST ;)
