Hi. This is my first grow.
I grow 5x Northern Lights and 4x Big Bud - all from Vision seeds, all feminized

Ferts: HESI
  • Root complex
  • TNT (grow fert)
  • Powerzyme (enzymes)
  • SuperVit (use: to watering and spray (aminoacids, vitamines))
  • Bloom complex
  • Phosphor plus
  • Hesi Boost (plant enzymes, sugars, fruit extract - practical effect will be probably minimal.. but we'll see )

Seeds germinated in the pots directly in the substrate (Biobizz - Light Mix). All seeds germinated to 5 days from betting. Pots were placed near the window (no CFL or HID.. just sun :p ) Until transplantation outside I watered them only with water and root complex - they were in pots with slightly pre-fertilized substrate (BioBizz- Light Mix). I transplanted them on the garden three weeks ago.

Right after transplantation:

Now, three weeks after transplantation:
5x Northern lights - 58. day of growth
4x Big Bud - 42. day of growth

Height of five Northern Lights ranges from 24 inches to 30 inches.
Four Big Buds are much shorter; ranges from 10 inches to 17 inches.

I feed them twice a week with:
  • 100ml TNT
  • 40ml Powerzyme
  • 4 kapky SuperVit

On the two flowers I have noticed spider mites attack. I tried a DIY tobacco insecticide (i do not have a lot of money, to buy some insect at the store), and then I sprayed it on the flowers. No noticable succes.. I'm going to try a stronger tobacco solution next time :-) I will soon update this thread, wish me luck :p And I'm deeply sorry for my English

Use one tea spoon of phosphate free dish soap in 2 pints of water and, ground cayenne pepper added to a spray bottle.

Hi.. Sorry for posting this so late..
  • Today:
    • five Northern Lights - 65th day of growth
    • four Big Buds - 49th. day of growth.
  • I thought that tobacco fluid did not worked, but now i think it almost killed spider mites and other pests.. Even though, i made the second spraying (water + habanero and moruga peppers) and when i watched flowers yesterday (2 days after the spraying) i have not seen any new pests or damage on the flowers..
  • I over-ferted small Big Buds (yellowing tips - mainly on upper leaves - you can see it on the photo lower)..
    • I will change schedule of fertilization, from twice a week to once a week.
  • I have cut and cleaned knapweeds around my flowers (i did it after taking the photos)
  • I have cut bottoms of flowers

  • These photos are 2 days old

  • And these are from yesterday:
  • 5x Northern Lights

  • 4x Big Bud

And this is burned tips on the mostly over-fertilized plant.

Expect some FAT yields from those NL's. I've grown both of these strains 12/12 from seed. The NL produced slightly less, maybe 5-7 grams a plant. But the NL was the much better smoke of the two. Had a spicey floral type flavour was really nice I enjoyed it quite a bit for a $4 seed I was quite impressed. The Big Bud was what I would expect from a commercial strain nothing special fat buds.

Sadly I lost some of the Northern Lights to the dreaded bud rot, there was another user on here who grew Visions NL in hydro and he also suffered from rot issues. So keep an eye in flower. Maybe even try and top them a couple times if your season permits. I'd hate to see you get some huge nugs on there and lose half of the tops.

Good luck and Happy growing. I'm sure you will be happy with the flavours on those NL the potency may be a little weak but I bet they would make a great concentrate.

I'm subbing up to watch these suckers progress :)

If i will top them, they will become more bushy, right? You said Vision's NL has problems with bud rot. They are too close each other now, and if they will become too bushy it will increase their wetness. I'm I right (this is mi first grow and i'm experience-less)?

You're right, if they bush out there will be less air movement between the sites, but it will also divide your bud over a larger area so it's kinda a give and take. Just a suggestion ;)

But you're right if they grow into each other then rot then other plants will rot that might not have.

I didn't top them.. I think i will handle it, and i will preventive spray my plants with natural funghicide (field horsetail extract), in the fall..
This week was very rainy.. Slugs appeared in the garden. I made a beer trap near my plants and today i bought (and tomorrow, when rain stops i will use it) vanish slug pellets, that should attract them, and then kill them :-)
I measured my plants:

Smallest NL - 32 inches; Tallest NL - 42 inches
Smallest BB - 19 inches; Tallest BB - 25 inches

Plants are fine.. Most of the slugs are dead, so plants are safe, for now :-) Does anybody here have experience with natural, horsetail fungicide? Or any others effective natural fungicides? I will need some prevention against mold.. Thanks :-)

Today pictures:

I'm starting to look for some prevention.. I'll make horsetail tea, or rather buy a clever bio funghicide - contains Pythium Oligandrum. It is one big bush already. They should start flowering in a next two weeks. :p

5x Northern Lights - 84. day - growth
4x Big Bud - 68. day - growth

I have measured plants and their height is (from left to right - on the photo):
NL - 47 inches, 49 inches, 60 inches, 51 inches, 58 inches
BB - 36 inches, 37 inches, 41 inches, 47 inches
