the stem is a lil red (see pic uploads), one side of the first set of fan leaves has a few tiny brown spots (see pic), but nothing alarming.

for week 2, how are they looking so far?

average temp now 78
average humidity 67%
water reverse osmosis ph 6.1 (after adding nutes)
5 gal smart pot 50/50 coco coir & perlite medium
light distance = 22 inches

using half strength of
· FloraGro, FloraMicro & FloraBloom

full strength of calmag & MYCO+ root stimulator

light:
2000w Philzon Cree COB Series LED (Actual pull 450watt)
initially using COB lights only, per lower intensity

Looks fine to me; I usually don’t use nutes for the first 4-6 weeks. U run the risk of nutrient burn...
What soil u using? Some have nutes already

i'm using coco bliss coco coir & organic perlite (no additives)
the leaves look slightly blistered, maybe i should flush with 6.1 ph water?

Coco typically gets treated like hydro. I would suggest lowering your ph to about 5.8.
After reading your post, I searched & read from one forum thread that 6.0 is the sweet spot for vegging because of nitrogen availability, & creeping up to 6.2 for flower because of the nitrogen nute (using 50/50 coco perlite.)
I'm afraid if I go lower than 6 I'll be reducing magnesium absorption.

I'll bump down to 6.0. I appreciate everyone's input thus far.

Referencing the ph up and down chart

week 2 1/2 veg

just want to leave an update for you folks!

discovered today that my grow tent wasn't optimally setup
temp got up to 82f (ouch) when i had gotten back from work
leaves were beginning to cup. also, the humidity was in the low 60s near the sensor

(i set the lamp to all on to make sure the inner growth received more light)

the near top fan medium leaf tips are a teeny bit brown, probably more likely from the heat stress than from the half strength nutes

i moved:
  • light fixture higher (32 inches from top now, 20 on 4 off)
  • exhaust carbon filter as high as it can reach inside the tent
  • fan to corner near where passive cold air intake duct is located
  • humidifier where the fine mist is more directly impacting the area around the plant (humidity now 75%!)

temp is now 77-78f degrees consistently in ambient temperatures of 75-76f!

(see pics on bottom)

questions:
i've been having to water every 1-2 days.
i've been watering where the medium still has some moisture but isn't moist so that it doesn't completely dry out

  1. how moist should the medium stay?
  2. when should i perform my first flush?
  3. is there a nute/watering chart i can reference for white widow?

really excited for the potential of this youngin'

1. Do a knuckle or ruler test. If ur soil is dry to be he first knuckle, water or stick a ruler in about 4-6“. If no soil attached to ruler, then water. It’s better to under water then overwater and getting root rot
2. about three - Four weeks b4 harvest
3. all watering charts are the same for each plant. There is no specific one for a particular strain.

With ur plant that young, I’d take it easy on the nutes.

82 should be ok with LED I find 80F to be my sweet spot
yeah, turns out with 75f ambient my tent is stable at 79-80f. i'm ready to veg her out. i want this plant to be a beast!

Agree and available with the original genetics from the original breeder. Mr. Nice. Seeds available from Seedsman and other banks.
noted. i got these white widow fem seeds from Amsterdam marijuana seedbank

Leaf temps of 75F are ideal. You can change them several ways. Increasing airflow over the leafs creates evaporative cooling of the leaf. Adjusting air temps and changing the intensity of IR the lights hit the plants with.

Your light is to close at this stage. This is not the most ideal method a lumen or par meter would be much better but for a fast reference download "light meter" app on your phone. Adjust your light to read about 10000-15000 lumen at this stage. Then give it a few hours and adjust your air temps. With LED lighting I would guess about 5F difference from the temp in your tent so air temp about 80f in the tent.

Make sure your thermometer is not in direct light and about canopy height or your temps readings will not be accurate.

Added: I would not be surprised if you will be over 30" above the plant with that light

@Aqua Man 75f leaf temps, ok. how intense can the stationary fan blow on the plant? gentle movement, right? right now the plant moves slightly with the indirect breezes blowing past it

ty for advising me about being at canopy height & out of direct light, initial re-reading of the leaf temps are up to 78f on the fan blades. i'll re-check temps after the tent has been sealed for a few hours, considering my lights being moved higher..

with all LED lights on i'm only getting 3500 lux from my LED fixture when i place my camera facing the lights at canopy height. do i need to calibrate the "lux meter" android app before it reads accurately? i'm using a samsung s9 camera

other plant update:
i think i may have slightly over watered them. tbh i watered them when the soil still had some moisture but wasn't wet...
the lowermost single fan leaves are turning a dark green in the inner blades of the leaves(see pics), was that from over-watering?

Yes indirect breeze. Sounds like you have that right.

The light meter should use the camera on the screen side not the camera side. So put the phone at the canopy screen side up. If your getting 3500 lux then something is wrong with the app or your phone. They are not very accurate but should not be that far out.

I'm a hydro grower but your nutes are to high. Wait for a dirt guy to advise you on watering max use 1/4 nutes but at this stage they need very little if any added nutes

I think your seeing some light bleeching from to much light.

@Aqua Man
found the app! i'm getting 13300 lux with just the blue/red leds, and 33000 lumens when i turn on the cob in addition in the center
light is set 36 inches from canopy

you're right about the light bleaching. i can see that the leaves are slightly light bleached (had all lights on, oops) looks like i'll be keeping the cob lights off for the time being. 450watt outlet draw of my Chinese mfg LEDs (with all lights on)

i noticed the 2nd to newest growth has 7 fan blades. (exciting)
73-75 fan blade temps when i had them all on..

i think you're right about the nutes, i just diluted my .6 gallon with .4 gallon reverse 6.2ish ph osmosis water, just in-case

Sounds like your almoat sorted out for now. Hopefully someone familiar with your soil mix can pop in and help ya sort out watering. I don't want to give you advice that might set ya back

Like I said that app is kinda ball park so just keep an eye on em but depending on growth you can probably jump about 5-7000 lumen a week. Late veg about 40000 like weeks 5 or 6. Then you want over 45000 for flower. But by then you should have a feel for it
