First grow

Hello my Growmies!
I started this journey of the growings a few weeks ago. I live in northern Ohio and am happy to be able to grow my own personal and could never imagine that this day would come.
So I have landscaped for numerous years in past and always planted a bunch of trees and plants that weren't mine but never grew or cultivated any of my own until a year ago I thought I kinda had a yellowish green thumb.
I found 6 seeds in half oz of lemon grenades shake that I got from my local dispensary. I didn't pay for them they were bottom of bag and I believe 2 or 3 I popped out the of nugs. I was able to get 4 out of 6 seeds to germinate and start sprouting but 3 of the plants are no longer with me most likely due to poor soil choice and over watering would be my best guess.
Now that I stole the souls of 3 poor sativa plants from a proper upgrowing I feel like a horrible plant dad but I hear failure is the quickest way to success...after I have demoted myself to a brown thumb I was hoping you guys can help me save this last plant.
I spent 30 on a cheap adjustable blurple light from temu and around 70 on a tent with elbows, pvc and the cheapest plastic available at the depot to make a 6' cube. I currently have the plant in peat moss with worm castings top dressed and plan on transplanting and switching soil to something lighter. Any help and tips would be greatly appreciated ty!

When you can, better light!!!!! For right now lower the light a bit, the seedling is getting stretchy. What is your grow media? Kinda still looks overwatered.

Well friend i would not expect much out of a blurple light, but for a first time why not go for it. anyways it looks fine for now just maybe let it dry a little bit over watering is a very common thing. stretching is common in seedlings and can be fixed when transplanted. you obviously dont need to feed it anything right now. but you are going to have to invest in some equipment if you want good results in doors

I have been trying to put the plant in window sill for a few hours during the day to supplement the light. Specs say 100-240v 50/60hz 0.7a. I have a extra aquarium light for my newts. I think the specs are even lower but I also have a basking light for our reptile that passed is that the right kind of light?

Those specs don’t tell you how many watts it’s drawing. What’s the brand and model? What kind of newt light Is it, fluorescent, incandescent? Spectrum, and how many watt

I threw away the box for aquarium light but it almost seems brighter than this temu light and I thought they're both l.e.d

I mean the plant will grow, will it produce? Probably not, and not really worth the effort. Even spending like 100$ on a light would be more beneficial than cobbling together a bunch of random LEDs.

Flowering takes a lot of power that those lights probably won't produce. If that cheap blurple does produce high wattage, it might be something that could easily burn a house down.

I know it's a disgrace but it's all I have rn. I have yet to find the used equipment thread. I was hoping to find a light that would at least get my plant to flower ideally in the 50-100 dollar range

My best guess, because the manufacturer doesn’t list the wattage draw, is that between the two, you might have 30 watts. The newt light is probably not a good growing spectrum. Grow with what you got, but you may not be happy with the results. Get a better light as soon as you can.

My first light was a sf1000. 100 watt draw and will get you to harvest atleast something. A sf1000 is around 120$ with a dimmer and without it's around 90$. It's definitely something worth upgrading.

Your not the first person that's recommended spider farm and I definitely need to invest in a product that will be worth the price. I guess I can thank my lovely father for raising a cheap pollock like him

It's okay to be cheap but 100$ is pretty cheap for a grow led. I just replaced my spider farmer with a photontek sq200w and that was $340(with a sale). But with my tent the par coverage is exactly what I wanted and a bonus from work convinced me it was worth it.

If you want to be cheap just go get some led bulbs from home depot 3500k like 12 of them and set it up with those haha it will work

Oh I forgot to say you could get a viparspectra xs1500 as well. 99$ off of Amazon. It's in your price range and from what I hear a beast + dimmable.

it has a 20% off last night. Makes it like $72ish. Its what I run in my small auto tent. Cheap and works great. Not the most powerful thing in the world, but if your doing just 1 plant, it isn't that bad.

Great light! Get some promix, or add %30 perilite to your Pete for more aeration when you transplant. Start looking into how you plan on feeding her. Organic? Bottle? If it's organic, get the soil mixed and get it cooking at least a week before you xplant

I'm unaware of bottle? Preferably organic, I acquired chronic pancreatitis almost 6 years ago so I try to stay away from all synthetic if that's what the bottle is

Yeah, that's bottle. I steer clear of that crap too. Lots of good organic mixes out there. I use dr earth myself.
For veg I use 4-4-4. For bloom I use 3-9-4. I add dolomite lime, azomite, langbenite, and earthworm castings (ewc) to both mixes with extra perilite for drainage.

I appreciate the info. The fert makes me a bit weary but all those ingredients I know and like your mix..... Do you know how effective aquaponics or growing cannibas with fish is?

I grew a plant in my fishtank when I first stated out. Fish ate the roots and stunted the plant. Need a lot of fish to shit enough to feed a plant. My advice is to keep it simple. Sounds like a lot of ingredients, but it's really not. Perilite and lime are already included in the promix, I just add more. The lime buffers the medium so you don't have to worry about ph fluctuations. Azomite adds minerals, cal, mag. Langbenite is just a pinch for added mag and suffer. The dr earth contains just about everything else
