So this is my first grow, I've researched a lot over the past few years just out of stoned boredom. Just kind of leeching I guess. By the way nice to meet you guys. So this is just a little girl I have started on 08/31/11. It's a Short Ryder Auto. (Yuck I know). Feminized seed. 24/0 lights at the moment.
Picture was taken with a camera phone (older one). I'll get proper pics up. Wanted to know what you guys thought of growth. This is in a 21 gallonx2 grow-maid box I made out of two rubber-maid containers I had laying around. 6 of the 52 watt CFLs? not sure now as I dont remember. the larger ones. 2700ks. for a total of 312 watts (high check my math). Lights are about 3 inches from the top foliage and will remain 3 inches as it grows or if I see light burn I will move the pot down. Watering every 2-3 days. Soil is all organic with just a handful of miracle grow(yeah I know yuck.) I live in northwest Florida. Humidity is high outside but my grow room is air conditioned. around 65% inside. Stays right around 74 degrees. I've not gotten my ph test kits and up/down adds yet but I will. I believe I can keep these plants alive in my grow area indoors threw it's short auto-flowering life, and still get a decent amount of decent bud, so no flaming
Sorry for the wall of text, just really wanted to give a feel for my grow. I'll probably turn this into a journal shortly in between plays of the Saints v Packers game. Who dat.
That baby in pic two showing the lights was taken out. It was a runty-looking reg seed I had laying around I threw in for fun.
Edit: 2 computer fans at the top and 2 at the bottom, and I've now got light traps on all 4 to keep fresh air moving in and out. Tin foil tape all in the inside. I sleep in the room with this and see no light to bother me. Top is tilted open obviously so this doesn't show proximity of lights to plants.
Also for anyone trying to make this: buy 2 and 1 top. Take one and turn the top upside down and put it on the open part of one container and silicon/glew it down. Then cut out the middle. This will make it snap securely to the other container as it acts like a lid. I found this the best most secure way. The lights I just found light sockets and wired them up and cut holes and secured them in with silicone then taped very closely to them. They're all within and inch of the fans pulling the heat out. The fans I simply just traced with a permanent marker then cut in with a soldering iron/box cutter. Siliconed them in and taped closely as before. Then just tape up the remaining inside. For the light traps I used PVC piping in an easy to find article on Google just search "Light proofing axial fans". This is a mini tutorial I'm too lazy to go into extensive detail as it's all over the net heh. I feel as if I already have.
