First grow

this is my first grow ever i want to know what people think of my choice of growing, nutrients and lighting.


im am growing three THC BOMB seeds hydro. using botanicare line of nutrients useing a 400 watt MH light untill the flowering stage then i will be switching to a HPS light for the remander of the grow. i was wondering what everyone thinks on the out come and my yields of the crop.

Hard to determine yield until you have the plant grown.

Typically yield is affected by several different factors such as strain variation and pheno type. Also how you work your nutrients into place. If you want yield I would try scrogging. Assuming its a legal grow. Scrogs produce a lot of smell but the outcome is worth it

If you want more yield then more light!!! I've never used anything under a 600 Watt but I know people have with good success. I also agree with scrog.. It's a great method. A light mover would of course help. Or plant turn tables.

i have also herd for every watt you HPS you have you will yield .7 to 1 gram a watt i was wondering how true that is

If you're hitting all of the benchmarks, yes, that is true. 1Gram:1Watt used to be a good ratio to hit, if you pull, you're doing good. I'm not sure anymore but, don't expect that your 1st grow.

Also, a friend of mine would weight the same exact bud @ twice the weight I would. He weighs his earlier in the drying process than I do. (Commercial)

I'm still newer to growing but I have always found the 1g/1w thing a little hokey. I use 440w and considering going to 660w for one plant. If I yield 60g or 90g then that's 0.14g/1w or 0.2g/1w but it's entirely grown for me and I prefer to smoke the hash and only keep the tops. Just grow to suit your needs don't chase silly/misleading statistics.

Very few growers achieve 1 gram per watt.

.5 gram per watt is a much better and more realistic goal.

plants are 12 days old and my roots are around 6 inches long, and the plants are around 6 inches tall is that goood for the time that they have been growing

1 g/ watt is total bullshit Just because you have a 1000 watt bulb doesn't mean you're going to get a 1000 grams off a plant there are a lot of other factors (like nutrients and trimming) that affect yield as well. Typically since its you're first grow anticipate somewhere around an ounce a piece, you'll get more if you veg longer but if you're like most of us on our first grow you'll get excited and jump to flowering as soon as its ready. Not to say thats a bag thing (I go straight to flower with my clones ) So best of luck dude with the grow and let us know how it goes!

Some strains smelll more than others but you'll want to have some kind of plan for odor control. During flowering the smell is going to get 1000X worse and if you're doing a stealth grow (or if you're parents don't know) you're going to need an airtight place with the air cycling through a carbon filter to eliminate it. Also don't forget just cause you don't smell the plants doesn't mean they doesn't reek it just means you got used to it.

veg longer for better yield. top, lst or super crop for better yield as well.
