First hash strain

I’ve been practising my hash making lately and been getting some decent results, I’m definitely getting better quality than ever since changing the way I collect and dry the trichomes.

I’ve been drooling over peoples live rosin pics and videos and especially interested in gmo extracts as I’ve smoked the bud and love those terps

Ive bought myself a pack of in house genetics garlic platinum, this is its lineage.

I’m really excited about this one as it’s the first time I’ve selected a strain to run that will be primarily fresh frozen, I might dry some in the modified wine cooler to smoke, but atleast 80% of the yield will be going to hash.

I usually freeze my material for atleast a couple days before I wash it loose in the machine, I then run the water through my 160-120-45-25 bags, so far I haven’t thought much of what is collected in the the 120 and 25 bags, 160 bag just catches plant material that makes it through the hose.

then I spread the hash thin over coffee filters and gently dab it with coffee filters to remove the excess water before it gets tipped onto another coffee filter and put in the fridge, it’s usually dry within about 3 days but I leave it there for upto a week until I’m absolutely sure it’s dry, it then goes in the freezer

does anyone have any tips for me about selecting a pheno? And this will be the first time I’ve pressed rosin too so any advice regarding that will be helpful too.

I find it really hard to microplane live hash. Too sticky.
When I press, I run a lower temp and press slow.
I always fill the 25 or 30u bag with hash, then fold the top and put into another bag 90u.
Press slow, make sure your plates are lined up, and make sure it's not coming out the back or sides of the plate. If it is or if it's blows out, you're pressing too hard/fast. Prepare for the possibility of fuck ups. It happens. The more exp you have the less chance you'll get blowouts. I like to make the directional flow fold in the parchment. If you wanna see oozing that's the best way.
Warming it up and slowly increasing pressure wait increase, wait. Etc

Yeah well thAts actually something I haven’t done for a long time, microplaning of any sort, my end product is a sticky dry pattty of bubble hash and I just cut bits off and place them in a bowl.

that looks superb btw

if I have blowouts is it possible to reclaim? Just by bagging it and pressing again or is it gonna fuck beyond repair?

I haven’t got a press yet but will be putting one on my Xmas list.
In your experience what size/style do you think I should get, will be pressing an oz of high grade bubble hash max per go, but might even try some smaller batches whilst getting acquainted with the machine

thanks for the reply man

I made my own and ordered plates from Dabpress.
It's totally possible to repress, you're just gona loose some flavour, and some yeild. (It can get messy too lol) It'll also prob be a bit darker. Live bubble presses like warm butter through a sieve. Easy peasy. Very little pressure is needed.
The bigger the plates, the more force is required (more surface area). I think my plates are 3*7? I can't remember... On a 10t. Press. I have a thread somewhere here on it

Generous amount of frost and good flavour, obvious first two.
Then there's other qualities like the trichome heads themselves. Some are very large, others small. Also, ever noticed sometimes resin on your fingers feels a little gritty or sandy, as opposed to greasy and oily?
Things like flower density too. Would an airy bud let a person extract more hash than a solid nugget?

Probably lots more I'm missing. Fascinating world in hash making. Some of the very oldest heirlooms and plant selections still happening to this day. They're way ahead of the flower game. You can literally see how the plants have adapted for hand-rubbing hash over years and years of selection.

If its dry sift its selected for then a slightly airy bud structure allows for more surface area for resin heads to develop so id guess yes it wont hurt

My girl thinks I’m crazy “what! You’re gonna put all that flower in ur fancy machine! That’s a pair of louboutins! Hahaha!” It really is a big step (not blind leap of faith) to risk so much when I’ve never pressed before, I can’t wait!

here’s some of my latest work, washed from dried flower then fridge dried
