I am using capp ebb flow with hydrton. Stated wi 1/2 strength nutes with 3 feedings. Planted some clones to deep and rock wool holding to much water. Changed out resivoir then put new water with1/4 nutes with 2 feedings due to a little mute burn. Will they come back from this? How far down in clay should they b planted? I have grown in soil for a year

I grow in hydroton and and place my grow cube with the pellets just abt at the top of the cube. most of the roots will come out of the cube and dig in to the pellets, not sure the size of your cubes but I don't think you should worry abt the cube being too soaked. I've never had that problem. the nute burn you're experiencing may be due to the ppm of your nutws. needless to say keep and eye on your ph....good luck....hope this helps.

Thank you very much. The ph changes fast from 5.8 to 6.3 in a day. How far into the hydroton do u plat? At the waterline?

Waterline? I think pictures would be good for us to give you the best answer. Your rockwool should not stay in the water. the rockwool should be surrounded by hydroton and the water should be below you rockwool or right at the bottom. At least thats how I run my system. I then run a top feed system thats on 24/7 recycling the water

I agree , photos are required and mandatory if you wish to have an accurate diagnosis .. I dont know many mechanics who make a diagnosis without seeing and hearing the automobile .. Same here .. No offense meant but seriously you may get the wrong advice due to this alone

Same here, pics would help, through me for a loop when you said water line, I take it then that you fill whatever your pellts are in with water ( or nutes ) to the top and let it drain out. I grow mine in one gal pots ( I think ) filled with pellets I just fill the pots to the top and let it drain out, ( if that's what you mean ) works for me. Here's what I mean pics taken abt 3 weeks in veg.

my question was answered...when my fill cycle comes on the pots fill 3/4 of the way up the pot for 15 minutes. then drain cycle. i guess i planted the rockwool to deep into the pot (1/4 of rockwool in the water) i replanted so no water hits the rockwool now. i will top feed until a good root system starts thank you all!

I run that system and would deffinetly not want the RW cube saturated when flooding, I stopped using RW all together in this system now just take rooted clones in rapid rooters and straight to the buckets to veg in. I personally hate hassles of RW in hydroton, cut out the middle man and go straight from starter cube to system. Shouldn't need to top feed in this system, unless your control bucket is lower than the sites the flood level is perfect even if you plant as far to the top as possible.
