Like the title states this is my first Hydroponic grow, looks like something is going extremely wrong here or it could be my inexperience growing with hydroponics eh prolly even both. Hopefully someone could help me out and ease my mind with telling me what happen and what steps I could take to fix the problem or else I'll be going back to soil . My setup is a DIY DWC Cloner with an 200GPH air pump in a 3.5 Gallon Bucket all black sealed of light. My PH is always around 5.8 and water temp around 75-80. I recently added nutes @ 1/3 strength seedling solution of GH Flora Series Expert lineup with a ppm of 300 in RO water, the problems these poor babies are running into are brownish material build up on roots which are not slimy nor smelly & light green leafs with very visible red/purple veins and stems. Please anyone out there that could help it would be much appreciated thank you

Hey bro thats 100% the brown slime :(
you can risnse off some of it gently!

what are the water temps?
and what additives are you using?

options are

1) go sterile......not the best option
2) brew up hiesenberg tea
3) add 7ml per gal of aquashield and 2ml per gal of perihna
#3 is what i use

Aquashield is made by botanicair
pirahna is made by advanced nutes

get a tub thats big enough to put your dwc buckets in
and fill with water so theres water on the outside of your
buckets. Then put the frozen bottles in that. This will stop
any contamination from taking place.

a good way to lower res temps would be to take white or aluminum foil tape and cover the outside of your res, because the black will absorb heat energy from yours lights. the foil would probably be best cause it can release heat much easier, mainly cause its used in a/c ducts, and its ment to be durable and non porous which also helps keep out lights. if you cant get any of the above, a SMALL amount of h2o2, a capfull, could be added with each res change. because the h2o2 breaks down into hydrogen and oxygen after a short while and wont damage your roots. purpdaddy has a great guide for all of this and a simple diagnosis / treatment for sick plants as well as how a proper setup should go. https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/146610-roseman-purpdaddys-guide-my-bubbleponics.html . goodluck
