First indoor grow

Hey guys I have 1 seasons experience growing outdoors nothing special I'm going to start growing indoors on New Years.

With that being said I'm debating between soil or a DIY DWC set up. Space is not a issue I have 14-15 weeks available for grow time. I have already purchased 7 fem 100% indica afghan kush seeds and am going to purchase a 600w or 1000w HID soon. I'm looking to grow 6 plants to there full potential and keep 1 mother for cloning plants to move out doors next summer.

Looking for some insight from experienced growers.

you're gonna need a 1000w for six plants that's definitely pushing it trying to grow six ladies under a 600w.

Considering I know very little about hydroponics aside from the Internet reasearch I have done should I do soil or DWC when I'm mainly looking for yeild over potency.

As a closet dirt farmer I endured disappointing results and long weeks waiting for plants to finish. With DWC my yields are better because they grow so dam fast. 6 plants? Just get 2 totes from Walmart & cut 3 holes on each lid for net pots. Then get some airstones & a pump...ez breezy DWC setup- good luck whatever you decide

I can't comment from experience but I've read multiple times hydro will yield better than soil.

Potency will be unchanged regardless of method... DWC yields much better there's no question; outdoor soil yields the most

I forgot to mention in op I'm also considering doing scrog because I've heard it increases yeild what's your opinion on scrog when space or height isn't a issue.

check out hygrohybrid on youtube. he grows some absolutely massive plants in scrog! and he has some informative things on dwc because that's how he grows

I've always proffered soil over DWC or hydro. I suggest you do a quick test-run with 1 bean and see how DWC/Hydro is, if you like it, do it on all your other plants, if you don't stick to soil.

Soil in airpots will yield nearly the same as DWC.

My opinion is DWC SCROG IS THA BOMB. SCROG Tip- knot up a simple net using a $3 clothesline when your plants reach 18" or so then attach to a frame (I use my inside tent frame) so it's freestanding, then tie your top colas down to form bushy nodes- each branch will become a new cola that can be supercropped & trained further. The net is fully adjustable to allow you to move it around to change out nutes or adjust as needed for light penetration. With SCROG you can go for an extra long veg say 9 to 11 weeks & get really dense nodal formation before going to flower cycle. I used to get a couple ozs per plant -now I get 6 to 8 ozs each depending upon strain & position in the tent under lights. Keeping them bushy and tight also allows a step harvest: I only take buds as they become ripe and then I usually will leave the bottom popcorn to get bigger or maybe even go for a 2 week reveg before retuning to 12/12 for another 2 weeks to finish the buds. When all the bud is gone I trim off all the old growth & set my lights to 24 hrs again for another full veg and flower cycle. I cut the net at harvest & knot up a new one each time. So far the plants I have ready for the end if this month have been revegged twice already... So 4 fem seeds x 3 veg/flower cycles=12 harvests... go SCROG!

True... I should not say yield is "better" w/DWC ... Veg is faster with DWC which can increase yields

i have about 14 weeks of time im going to start 7 plants from seeds keeping the best one as a mother plant then ill do 6 plants in a DWC set up. Im thinking ill start off the grow while the plants are small with 1 600w and as they get bigger and i get more money ill get another 600w isnstead of just 1 1000w that way i can have each tote containing 3 plants directelyunder a 600w.

but my question is in 14 weeks will i have time for 2 harvests at the rate dwc plants grow?

I've had about 2 years experience in growing in soil and can make plants grow up to 2.5' - 3.0' a day. I can only imagine what DWC can do. If you research enough about DWC and do everything correctly, you might even get more than 2 harvests.

No you can cut down your veg time if you want small plants but you would be better off using your 14 weeks training the plants as dense as possible to increase number of available bud sites. No matter what method of growing you use you can't speed up flowering time... You need at least 8 weeks or more to finish your buds flower cycle so use the other 6 weeks for vegging them out supercropping & LSTing. Now if you started with a clone or revegged your girls like I do you could get away with a 3 week veg in DWC & your bud will be ready for picking in 11 weeks. Still not enough time for 2 harvests BUT if you step harvest... That is, taking only the top colas & leaving the rest to continue to develop & grow larger bud mass or maybe even going to a 2 week 18/6 reveg before returning to 12/12 you will increase your yields over chopping the whole plant at one time.

If I were you, I would do a couple more soil grows first, and get used to how to read your plants, and how to handle things.
