First Newbie Grow and Setup. Whatcha Think?

Having been an avid smoker for 15 years and being extremely tired of paying $150 for a decent quarter, I decided I'd try my hand at growing some bagseed from an ounce of mid-grade that only had 11 seeds in it. I spent some time here reading before I even started, and have a working setup which I *think* will do the trick.

Thanks to all of the members that contribute the wealth of information this site contains! It's nice that everything anyone could ever need to know regarding a grow is just a few clicks away!

Here are a few pics to see what the pros have to say! Any and all input is welcome!

This is my 14x26w (2700k currently) CFL hood with a 125CFM fan that blows the hot air from the lights into a homemade carbon filter. The filter is made from a plastic lamp shade, screen, panty hose, and small wooden box containing 2x50CFM fans. The layer of activated carbon is around 4 inches thick, and completely eliminates the smell. The hood and filter are suspended from an old walker, and are adjustable in 1" increments from the ground. The entire setup is in a walk-in shower in a spare bathroom:

I currently have six plants that have been on 12/12 for 13 days. Two of them are females, but the other 4 haven't shown any signs. Considering that the two known females are much larger and bushier than two of the remaining 4, I'm hoping to wind up with 4 girls since they all came from the same seeds.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Criticism?

Thanks!

That's a awesome set up! I love seeing people make there set ups from scratch like yours! Great work curious you got a good start. Keep it Green!

150$ a quarter thats a ripoff that better be some legit white widow or purple haze with prices like that dont worry though those bagseeds will probaly be way better and more frosty then whoever the hell was jipping you with sum 150 a quarter crap

That's some of the best DIY I've seen, lol. Nice job! how'd you rig up the light?
Thanks, Pixel! There are four surface-mount sockets on the underside of the hood that all have Y adapters with two 26w 2700k CFLs. There are also two 26w 2700k CFLs hanging in the middle, and two in Y adapters at each end. I left some room between the top and bottom of the hood for the AC wiring, a 12vDC power supply for the fans, and maybe some environmental monitors down the road a bit.

And then there were 3.... Any suggestions on what to do with dead males?

I'd like to take cuttings from the biggest and healthiest girl, so I'm looking for proven ways to quickly root the clones. I've probably read 50 different methods that all seem to work, so I really have no idea what is quickest and best. I don't have rockwool available, so I'm planning to use sterile panty hose to make little balls of perlite to put into an egg carton or similar. I'm not sure about the light, either, as I've read "no light for 24 hours and then 24x7 light thereafter", "24 hour light from the beginning and all through veg", "18/6 from the begging through veg", and about 20 others. Then there's the, "humidity tent", "no tent but mist every three days", and "mist every few hours", so any advice there will also be much appreciated!

What works?

Thanks!
