First Outdoor grow in the south

I am looking forward to growing my own outdoors this season due to a move to some property with plenty of space. I have been pouring over all the different strains and can't really decide what to plant so I am looking to the very learned audience here to help me out. I am in the south with a clay type soil. I am looking to grow my own with some extra for my buds! (pun) so I guess I need a good balance of quality and yield. Thanks in advance for the help.

For a base strain, ALWAYS do the Afghan. Most strains is from the Afghan Strain, anyway. They take Grower's abuse well, where they will survive when hybrids die off. They clone & rejuive very well. The Cali Orange Bud is wonderful, because of the orange smell. It does well, also. Clay base soil is a big time problem. Either dig big holes, or plant in big containers, 20 gal. or more. Or, if your a lazy fuck like me, I just use a natural hole/gulley, & go from there. How many Babies, how tall can the plants get? Facing due east, the Sun is rising at the 1:30 position. In mid summer, it will hit 12:00, then 11:00 later in the summer- the dog days. In the South, full direct sun is not cool/needed. Partial shade after 4 pm is a good thing. Backyard grow, or in the field grow. Watering method? Containers or in ground. Chem or organic?
