First outdoor in New York

I hope you all know it’s not legal yet in NY unless you have a medical card. They probably won’t mess with us but still not legal just so you all know. I live in upstate and we have very humid weather and it’s best to find a OG that has some strains from this climate but its not impossible either just have to plant in right location to get that morning sun to burn the dew off early and use green cure before you spot any signs of PM. Also if you have a medical card I hope you don’t own any firearms or they will be coming for either your medical card or your 2A rights great ole NY. Such a great state if we loose cuomo and be disconnected from NYC. Highest tax rate and worst laws. Welcome to the liberal shit hole. Happy growing

Thanks for the heads up, for those that aren't aware, this is true. We are not allowed to grow until a year after dispensaries are allowed to sell recreational, (estimated 2023 legal grow year) the full penalty is the following according to the statue:

Should be a fine of $125 no more than $200 and a possible infraction

S854A, page 87

A COUNTY, TOWN, CITY OR VILLAGE MAY ENACT AND ENFORCE REGULATIONS TO REASONABLY REGULATE THE ACTIONS AND CONDUCT SET FORTH IN SUBDIVISION ONE OF THIS SECTION; PROVIDED THAT: (A) A VIOLATION OF ANY SUCH A REGULATION, AS APPROVED BY SUCH COUNTY, TOWN, CITY OR VILLAGE ENACTING THE REGULATION, MAY CONSTITUTE NO MORE THAN AN INFRACTION AND MAY BE PUNISHABLE BY NO MORE THAN A DISCRETIONARY CIVIL PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS OR LESS;


As long as the plants are not visible, there would need to be a warrant to search the property. One of the benefits about durban poison is that it is one the most mold resistant strains out there, however if photo's just aren't worth it, autos can be viable for us. 6 in ground autos can yield a fair amount. Thanks for the advice for green cure, will look into that, darn leaf miners are all up on my plants, was hoping other predators would get them but nope. To be fair, no one likes cuomo and no one's keeping you chained here. Feel free to move if your quality of life isn't where you'd like it to be

I know of at least 20 people that grow in upstate NY. Closer to Lake Erie. This year is my first attempt at outdoor in NY. I researched for about three days on the best strains for this climate and decided on Berman's Gold Leaf. Taking suggestions from friends, I invested in a 10x20 Shelterlogic tent and a few mesh tarps from Harbor Freight. Tent top at night, mesh during the day. This should give me enough control over the humidity problems along with pest control. And of course using fabric pots.

How do you like that ShelterLogic? I have a smaller one that I've been using for years. No complaints. Especially for how inexpensive they are.

Love it. The first year I used it I had issues with the wind. I even bought 8 of those screw type anchors and they got ripped out of the ground. Now I just bungee it to my garden fence and it hasn't been a problem since. The bungee cords get stretched out over time but I just give them a wrap around the pole to take up the slack.

I just have a 6x8 so the wind isn't as much of a problem due to the smaller size. Mine came with 4 anchors but I couldn't get them in the ground with all the rocks I have in my soil. I took some of those 8x16 concrete blocks that are hollow in the middle and used them to anchor a 2x4 that I laid over the bottom of the frame at the front and back.

HV here too. First outdoor ever, sunk photos right in the ground. Hope they produce. They're mamouth in size but no preflowers yet. All this rain has me concerned.

Hey, we're ~100 miles apart but pre flowers showed up 3 days ago on my plants, you can expect yours within a week. I defoliated my plants because I noticed small bits of white powder mildew growing, and also read watermelons should not be grown near them because they carry wpm often. Not sure if the wpm was from the watermelons or weather, regardless more air flow will help and a light misting of baking soda + water should hold it back. Strongly advise bud washing with h202 at harvest

Fortunately I'm not growing melons this year. I have noticed a little pm here and there. I have been spraying recently with Lost Coast plant therapy. It seems to be helping. The biggest thing I'm fighting right now are locust tree leaf miners and leaf hoppers. Nothing seems to stop the leaf miners. They don't appear to be doing a ton of damage but they are there. I keep tying these things down cuz they're getting bigger and bigger. I hope they go to flower soon.

My plants also had lots of miners on them for the past month, and a few leaves were chewed up. This last week when the pre flowers showed up, so did big spiders and 99% of the miners are now gone. Nature will take care of it

I have a pile of spiders but the miners are everywhere. I am going to try some BT next to see if it helps. They are Locust leafminers, I was surprised to see them all over my plants. I read that BT works and you can use it to harvest.

Cool, that should kill them and from what I understand sprays are best when the plants aren't in flowering. Since this is out doors and yield will be fairly big, I wont be spraying any pesticide/fungicide and just toss what ever rot or mildew sets in.

My first grow in 22 yrs. In the HV/OC, massive pest issues, rain and heat. My girl is doing great! I have her in a 25 gallon fabric pot with my home grown chicken manure compost, peat moss and perlite. Been feeding her Mother earth's flower power, kelp and molasses not all at once. Week 2 of flowering and she still stretching. I been tying her down weekly and she been responding well to it. Just worry she wont finish on time.

The pests and rain have been by far my biggest challenges. I feel like the pest thing is never ending.

Upstate, I found the first terminal buds on August 8. This is what the plant looks like 8 days later: stacking nicely. Fingers crossed Mother Nature cooperates over the next couple of months.
