First Really Real Deal Grow

This isn't my first grow necessarily, I've grown before under cfl n fluros never under HID now that I have an HID i'm waiting to see what I can get done. Let me know how your smoke comes out I wouldn't be able to last letting it cure that long with out giving it at least a little try. Under my floros my bagseeds i've had before come out alright but I kinda out grew my lights quickly so I've been left with some fluffy shit that was better than regos just not as high quality as I was hoping but then again I was still in my learning phases then.

Well today I've had 4 100 CFM fans come in today, I only needed two but shit 4 for 33$+free shipping and handling sounded like a deal to me. So I threw them together got them up circulating air between rooms. In the Veg room I have an intake 530 CFM and 530 CFM exhaust in the flowering room. The temps were reaching pretty high in the flowering room around 80 degrees while the veg rooms 10-15 degrees cooler. Couple of days ago while it was cooler my room fans shut off at 60. The thermostat is in the veging room so it turns off when that room hits 60 degree F. When the fans turn off my flowering room is either between 70-75, now that it's warmer it's reaching up to 85 degrees. It really doesn't feel like it, I thought the my thermometer was broke so i bought another one and sure enough it's really that warm. My plants dont seem to be suffering all that bad from the higher heat. I'm stuck thou because I have now I have no idea what I will do when summer time comes back around. I'll have to engineer something because I wont let my babies get that hot. Then again, I'll be in a better location and summer temps are as bad so maybe that'll help. So far my Hazes are really picking up from whatever were holding them back. I followed all the same steps as my bag seeds and they have become quite a treat. Well all except the one that had the transplant stress my fault, didn't realize I didn't put air holes in the bottom so I struggled getting the plant with dirt out of the cup. O well, serves me for smoking right before doing something important. Hopefully I dont need to worry as much

Alright well my room temps while still lower than what they were still higher than what I would like. Today it reached up to 89 degrees after that I had to take action, I cant exactly afford an AC after buying everything else to get these girl in the environment they are in. So I turned to my old and trusted friend... GOOGLE!!!! I guess I could of done a search on this site, eventually I did to find out more ways to cool the room. I figured the cheapest route I would with was the DIY REDNECK AC. This was by far the cheapest route for me to go. I already had a 100 CFM fan, other than a cooler all I needed was some bottles to freeze. I cut out a hole to fit the fan vent into Styrofoam cooler lid, then I used silicone to seal and after that had dried I used duct tape. Not sure if the Duct tape did any good but it sure did make me believe that it was more redneck. I'll post some pics of it tomorrow, it did wonders in my room in a half hour it drop my temps 10 degrees kept it at a constant 78 degrees. Once the lights went off I just cut the fan leading into the Styrofoam cooler. So far it worked out well and it's much cheaper than running an AC unit, not that I could have anyway. No way I could push that much more current thru the lines than what I already have going just with that 1000W going I know it's just 9 A so I still have plenty more comfortable room both my big fans is 1 A . Also my 400W running sometimes during the same cycle which is an additional 3-4 Amps I'm not exact sure on that. I have some cfls up not sure of their current. I do know that the electrical in this house is shit and I dont plan on staying here long enough to bother fixing it. So 9+2+4 so right there is 15A me personally I dont think 5 Amps is a lot of wiggle room. More current I have going thru them lines the warmer the lines get. Warmer the lines get the harder it is for me to control my room temp. that my DIY tent is in. Still I'm not exactly sure I would want to be coming close to pushing full cap. on the electrical system. Well I'll update more tomorrow, please anyone who reads this all input is welcome. Let me know what you guys think, I need to know what direction I need to go in. Also I'll be mixing 3 5 gallons of sugar water and yeast. to make enough co2 to be enough for the size of both rooms. I think when I get that up going I'll have to figure out a time schedule to shut the intake and exhaust fans off 3 times a day. I'm not exactly sure how long to turn them off, but once i figure that out it will be calculated. Again please all input and comments are welcome.

Alright everyone I know i said i'd take pics of the redneck ac but I forgot all about it, as I was taking pics of my other girls. They seem to be doing rather well I do have some that are showing some signs of some kind of deficiency. It's showing some brown spots in the middle, maybe some yellowing I'm not exactly sure that red hue makes shit hard for me to see colors the way they should be I guess. But so far all is well, It was a quick photo shoot I didn't get that much time in the room today. So far besides a couple of signs of either deficiency or possible a burn, but that really wouldn't make sense seeing how the one flowering is much closer to the light then any other and it's only on one plant. It's my biggest plant the fan leaves are just absolutely massive damn near bigger than man hand.

Alright everyone so far everything is still going well, plants are living accidentally broke a fan leaf today. I had to break the other side to make it even, ok I really didn't have to for the plants sake. But for mine I had to, it would of drove me nuts to see that leaf on the other side knowing my fuck up killed her sister leaf so i killed her to. But the plant that the leaves i pulled is still ok, better than ok really. I'm shocked at my outcome out of the 5 bagseeds I have in the room so far 3 have shown sex and I got 3 females. They probably sexed really early because of the times I left them in the flowering room because I was a away a couple days at a time and had them in the cycle a couple times. I will admit this thou I'm not 100% sure they are 100% percent female. I've had an unbelievable ratio on the bag seed seeds, even before this grow. I don't know how luck swings in my favor like it has but this is the most plants i've grown at one time. Before it was one or two plants at a time with some cfls. So out of 24 bagseed plants I've ended up with 18 females and 4 males and 2 herm. My friend who has shared some of his knowledge and watched my grows is amazed by my luck as well. He said he grew 12 at one time and ended up with only 2 females. Luck of the draw I suppose, I know there is nothing I really do special then anyone else.
Anyway I'm about to get off of here go and do research about yields on plants going 12/12 from seed, I might as well compare the bagseeds to that seeing how they are only about 8-10" tall and have already shown their signs. Going to go on and keep them in flower and start giving them some flowering nutes, and get some plants ready for the vegging room let these girls do their thing in flower. I'll catch all of you guys later, will be updating pics again maybe on Thursday. My girls will be feed their ferts then since I'll be out of town for the weekend to Detroit those who can put one and one together know why. I watered them today, just didn't take my camera today. Plus I want to really see a comparison image when I snap some pics. So Thursday will be the day I take them pics, I'm very happy about them.

Alright just got back from the canibus cup that went on in detroit this weekend. It was cool I enjoyed myself, seminars were cool. Really enjoyed the one for veterans, enjoying the fact things are getting that push in the right direction. Also talk about PTSD getting added to the list for Michigan qualifications. Anyhow back to my plants, I didn't get back in time to take pics. But I did go in there with my green cfl light and my jaw dropped i'm amazed at the difference in just 3 days. They've been doing real good so keep your eyes peeled for some pics tomorrow. So I've been slacking on the pics just getting busy, but i'm still here and not going anywhere

Alright everyone as I promised I may be a little late but pic update time I did get in the room but I only had five minutes thou to take em. Not a whole lot of pics but I do love what I have been seeing. A couple of small deficiencies has popped upped but were corrected when spotted. So far everything is going really well, thou one of my bagseeds went herm. I haven't seen to many balls but there has been a couple for sure I just popped them off hopping I could catch them as much as I can til I feel fit to move them and just flower them with cfls in a completely separate room and maybe use a little bit of pollen from them to make a little bit of seeds. Maybe on my hazes, I figured if I do enough to just get a couple seeds I may kill the quality just a tad bit but I'll at least hopefully get some seeds with the haze quality rather than have to buy more. I'll feel in the rest tomorrow cuz I'm stoned as shit and I think right now I'd talk you ear off.

O yea I noticed i held up my CIGARette it is a 100 to help everyone with the size reference I attempted to do. The smell of her is very unique it's very sticky very strong yet she has a hint of citrus smell to her as well. So far she's looking real good, and I cant wait to smoke her. I think she may ended up harvested maybe around nov. 12th maybe later depending on what she tells me.

Well I'm very pleased still with how my plants are doing, no pics as of right now yet I ended up with some kinda bug fucked with my stomach pretty bad. So I slept passed the hours my light goes off, and got stuck using my green party cfl light. But looking at them today I think they may start swelling here shortly it looks like they beefed up already this pass couple days. I got one more feeding of Beastie Bloomz, and 2 feedings of cha-ching and probably flush a week. Or should I spend more time flushing than that? If I spend two weeks flushing I'll be well pass nov 12 by a week. Yet I dont want them to go to far and turn more amber than cloudy. I like the head high, so exactly at the ripeness point before THC starts breaking down I'd like to harvest.

And today I got impatient looking at her still having some rego's laying around I snipped a little bit off of the big plant, just some under growth nothing to seriously big. Snipped a little nugget and saw some advice for quick drying in the microwave and wanted to see how it would work out. By no means do I have plans to nuke anymore of this plant I just saw someone suggest a way to quick dry would be the microwave then I saw another technique that involved a dry paper towel on the bottem the bud on top of the dry paper towel. Also the dry paper towel will be in the bottom of a tupperware bowl. Once you set the bud in you take two wet pieces of paper towel and put them into layers. You want to get out as much of the water out of the wet papertowel as possible but you dont want it dry. Once you bud is in the tupperware bowl on top of a dry piece of paper towel under 2 pieces of paper towel which is probably lawered now to be 12 pieces if you fold in squares. Put the lid on and leave one corner semi open but microwave on 50% and 'nuke' for 3-5 minutes checking it after every minute. The other method was to just wrap bud lightly in paper towel toss it in the micro small blast of 10 sec - 5 sec burst. I wont lie the second option came out terrible, thou it did dry the bud incredibly fast. But I think the trichs were blasted right off the plant, even in the micro at 10 sec burst I see smoke occasionally spill out the ends. Probably the trichs exploding from the unbarable rapid vibrations of the microwave. But the first option it didn't kill the flavor to bad, thou slightly harsh it was acceptable. I mean it stilled had that really plant like taste but my plants haven't been flushed as you would know if you've been keeping up. The micro blast in the microwave didn't work I wouldn't recomend it, if you were to do the microwave go with the first option. I'll find later where I read it to give the guy credit where it is due. But his technique came out pretty decent and I got a pretty good buzz from my lady more of a head high can't wait to see what she does when she is good and ready and properly dried and cured.
Either way point of this post is that I found a way to get a ok product from using the microwave. Not the greatest but if you are in desperate need and become to impatient then the microwave isn't a bad option to look at if it is done the right way. I'm sure there may be even a better way but i'll have to look around.

Alright been away for a minute I see, I've been around reading looking for ways for a good quick dry to maintain smell and knock down the harshness a bit. Microwave was quick and all but I do feel it took away from the potency a bit. This seems to be a known fact from what I've been seeing. I saw another interesting thread I'm not quite sure it was a google search, got tired of searching just on here and not getting results for new ideas. I'm not saying that good ideas don't exist here I was just hitting a wall. So I guess I got one and I'm going to throw it out there just tried a new method I came up with. Not sure if it's worth anyone else trying But I haven't seen anyone else suggesting this. Maybe altogether its a bad idea but from what I tested it was good probably could of dried a bit longer but flavor wasn't to bad harshness was there a bit but I think my way may be drying to fast and taking from the flavor and adding some harshness.
Anyway this is what I did, I saw someone recommending a method that involved tin foil and a light bulb. I thought "PERFECT!!! I got both of those." I went and grabbed myself some tin foil and folded it up quite a few times to where it was flat and strong. I noticed my lamp shade was about a good 6 inches from the light. Haha couple days ago my 60W bulb went out and now I have a 100W flood light in there so that was part of the reason i was exicted because i knew that mother fucker put out lots of heat. What the guy recommend was you cut up the bud in small pieces and place it on the foil and rotating it every now and then. Alright tried that, and it didn't go as fast as I thought and I dont think the guy said anything about distance from the light. It was dry but it did seem like it had a bit of moisture still inside should I make the bud more fine?
Well I built onto this method and from what I tried I was pleased but now that I have a method it's time for me to add onto it. What I am doing now is using the tin foil as a heating/drying source. Now I'm taking some popcorn buds sorry couldn't keep my hands off got 4 branches left that will stay til she's flushed and taken off. Even thou she's not ripe yet but I'm figuring even now she'll be enough smoke til it's time to harvest and cure my other plants I got coming up should be done by end of this month. So if my plant could last me 2-3 weeks shit I'm happy because then is when all my other bagseed plants should be bout read maybe I gotta go back thru this and figure out my time frame could be wrong. Sorry I'm high so talkitive mode set in. Anyway I've taken the popcorn buds and put them in a open jar on top of the tin foil I wait til the buds are feeling dryish on the outside then I close the jar. The buds start to sweat quickly, after about 15-30 min open empty out buds dry jar from moisture put buds in and wait til outside become dry again. Repeat til you get all the moisture out. With my first try it took me about 3 hours to do just 4 popcorn buds. But the end result was way better then the microwave. If anyone does read this let me know what you think. I'd like some input, I know the whole patience thing. But I'm out of smoke and I get pretty ugly when I dont have my weedies in the morning. PTSD pretty bad and marijuana does wonders, and I dont got the cash to just go out and get it. So I've been snipping some of mine. I love the result from the Idea I came up with, later I'll post pics of what my setup looks like to maybe spark ideas.
