I'm nine days into a Miracle-Gro soil "experiment". I followed another thread's instructions on how to deal with Miracle-Gro. I'm yet to have any nute burn or issues with too many nutrients. Actually the opposite has happpened, I started noticing nitrogen deficiencies and I added some nutes, so far so good.
Ok, this is what I did if you want to try what I did and what the thread I followed did. Sift through a small amount of MG soil at a time and remove all of those little semi-clear orange/tan balls that you see in the soil. These are little balls of nutes. I would suggest taking a few bong rips before you do this so you can concentrate really well with the task at hand. After going through all the soil you'll need for your pots, add perlite to your soil. I went with a 3:2 perlite to soil ratio. After this pour the soil into the pots and fill it with water and let it drain; repeat three times. I dropped in some seedlings that I had germinated and had a 1" long tap root, they never showed signs of nute burn.

That's the thread I referenced to in my build. I'm also using a tote like yours, but horizontally. I'm going to stunt the growth of two plants and see how much I can get. They're already 9 days old but they're already giving off that sweet aroma, luckily they're both females (12/12 since planted in soil).
