11 out of 300 ? If you want to really learn about growing you'll be reading thousands.
In the meanwhile, soil is perfect for 12-12. I dont use CFL's just T5's for Veg and cloning, but you can flower in 12-12 using them. Obviously your results will not be as great as they would with HID.

If I was to get an HID light would it work in this setup..my main concern is obviously heat and burn issues. If it will work what wattage would be best?IMG_20120411_190247.jpg

Well hopefully everything goes well...and this sounds like a good idea to me. I am trying to start a small 12/12 from newly rooted clone type dealie going...just so I have a quicker turnaround...I always get my timing off and end up having all my flowering plants flowering and ending around the same time...so instead of perpetual I have a rotation...so I will have no plants done for 2 months...and then 3...and then none...and then 3 or 4 again..and it is getting on my nerves. I would rather get to harvest small plants within a closer span of each other...Sounds more fun that way...

Blue spec is for growth and potency. Red spec is for density. Both with flowering is good A+!!!

BUT!
I use blue spec for both flo n veg no red whatsoever.
I do alright too..

He's referring to wavelengths of light. Different wavelengths (colors) are utilized by plants differently. Blue light ~420nm range is generally utilized for vegetative growth while red ~660nm is preferred for flowering.
