Heya all. So the plants are looking AND smelling AWESOME! Their abit thin though. I believe it has to do with the fact that I forced them to go from the 2 week seedling stage (which went to 4 almost 5 weeks) directly to the flowering stage and the fact that I should be using double the lighting I currently have (Just have not had the time to make the additions). So I know I hindered my potential there. So far the flowers are about 1 inch across and 3-4 inches in length (I was going to give them about 2 more weeks before moving them to drying and curing stages before consumtion). I now need to practice my hand at taking clones. Two of the 4 specimens I would like capture as my mothers and take clippings from those to start new tests controls. That is I need to discover how to harvest the bud and obtain 5 clippings from those two specimens. This will be though due to the shortness of the plants. Im still optimistic.
I want to increase flower count! what will achieve this? More light and longer veg cycle, and bloom nutes (since this last group completly skipped that stage, and elements)?
My other question is about nutes. I feel that I have mis inturpreted the chart on the bottle. I only have one bottle of nutes (FloraGro By General Hydroponics). The chart on the reverse side lists the use of two other types durring the other stages but at varying amounts. Ive only been using FloraGro. My question is "Am i supposed to mix the nutes" propperly together for each stage or do I just use one type for each particular stage they are designed for? Im thinking that they need to be mixed (to complete the needed balanced nutrition).
I missed out on the root stimulaters, trace elements, and the bloom nutes (that are not a requirement but certainly will give added benefit to the Hydroponic system).
I am also noticing a slippery surface on my tubes and interiors of the water tank. Im sure this is algae. My tubing is clear allowing light in places to seep through and provide optimum growing enviornment for the algae. I think my fix will be to swap out the tubing with a black tube. And also to throw a second very small pump in the bottom to provide added intank circulation. I picked up an oscilating clip fan about 8" in diameter to add wind circulation to help teach the specimens to grow stronger stemming to compensate for the winds. Problem, adding the fan creates pressure inside the grow tent thus forcing out the air (and the smell) through the holes and other open spots out into the rest of the surrounding room. This is starting to create an odor in the surrounding room/s as well. (Dont get me wrong...I wake up in the morning to the pleasant smell of sweet sticky icky. (Way better than coffee,
) Im gonna be doing some planning for the least expensive DIY products to combat this odor issue. Im also going to be modifying my tents to allow me to produce two harvest specimens every 2 weeks. Thus with CFLs should produce high quality flowers in the amount of 2-3 onces every two weeks. You guys got any other ideas?
