First Time Curing Questions

I have been scanning the forums and of course everyone cures differently so I have heard times from 10 days to 30 days. A local cigar shop sells Boveda Humidipaks. My medical service that I usually have deliver uses these products and noticing always how fresh his bud was I was curious to try them. They offer several levels 72%, 69%, 65%. If I use these during curing which should I use and what would approximate curing times be in a very dry climate.

Any Suggestions?

2 weeks is pretty much the minimum that you want to cure for the best taste and firmness.As for the humidipaks,I personally have never met anyone who uses them to cure,so thats someone elses area.

Curing is a very subjective and 'well-to-do' step in the process of home grown weed. By that I mean, the curing step basically just makes the buds sweeter, and less harsh tasting and they dry a little more, making the weed ignite better.. SO, the longer it's done, the nicer the buds will be, but technically it is NOT even a required step.. you can cut the plant down, let it dry for a week and then smoke it and it would probably be fine (as long as you flushed previously).. If you are going to cure, I would say 1 week is the minimum as far as seeing any noticeable changes in the smoking of the bud. After the drying period, I usually just keep curing my buds for months until finally storing them longer term in a vaccum sealed container but while they are curing I take some out and smoke it, even if it has only been 'curing' for less than a week.. its all good..

You do want to cure it though even if its not a step. my friend grew a couple oz. in his house and never cured his dope. while smoking it i noticed that the taste was very harsh and it wasn't pleasurable to smoke.

The longer you take to cure the better the taste and smoke quality. AS to how long there are a number of thoughts on that. I think 10 to 20 days is fine for the main drying and than there is the aging in the jars. Most people feel you need to cough to get off when in fact most of the time the herb was dryed to fast and at to high a heat.

Thanks for all the helpful input. Since I am in the desert I think I will probably main dry for 7-10 days and then was planning on doing about 14 days in jars.
