Hey guys this is my first grow, I started my headband from seeds with cfls, then I got a sun system 150w hps, they seem to be growing short and bushy, they have fat leaves on them, I had to transplant them again cuz they were getting root bound. So I transplanted them into five gallon buckets, they seem a lil droopy still, is that cuz of how big the leaves are?IMAG1250.jpg

How old are they and are you using a hps light I would SERIOUSLY recommend a MH it's a way better spectrum for veg growth

plants usually droop for a little while after transplanting, till they get settled in.
hps can be used for veg, but they're traditionally for flower, and MH is used for veg, the spectrum it emits is better. that light will do ok for veg, but you're going to need something bigger to flower under, or at least something to supplement your hps,

I'm still debating when I want to start flowering, I have plenty of space to grow big plants, but I would be happy with atleast a few oz for this first grow

Wow ya I feel and this is just me but when starting from seed it's ALWAYS better to start from seed in the final pot the plant will be in transplanting is a total waste of time and can seriously stunt growth production look at my plants they are 31 days old from seed today under a 250w MH 8" above my plants I move up every 3 days 20161021_092908.jpg

i like to top the 7th set of leaves, but thats a personal preference.

up potting photo plants is always a good idea, if the guy above had up potted at least once his plants would be substantially bigger, most people don't veg for much more than 3 weeks and have 24-30 inch plants by then. if you put a tiny plant in a huge pot, you have to be very careful about watering till it grows into it, and the roots have to spend a long time growing in before the canopy will do anything.

Mine are about the same height as urs, I just buried most of the stem

Should I fim or top them in a week or two, or should I just let them grow, I really don't want to mess something up
I topped mine at 5 nodes high just go to the middle new growth fan open the center you will see the main shoot growing from the center VERY easy just take the tip of your finger and push it to the side till you hear it pop then the other way pull off then its topped I will FIM the new side branching as soon as they reach the top of the plant is will usually make 16-30 tops per plant

as to when to flower, plants usually...usually stretch to close to twice the height they are when you put them into 12/12, so if you put an 18 inch plant into flower, it will usually get around 3 feet tall. there are some differences in breeds and even phenos within the same breed, but thats the rule of thumb
