I put my lights 8 inches away just to where I can't fell heat from the light on the back of my hand my node spacing before I topped was 3/4 of a inch all the way up

About 6 inches from the t5's. She is a 1 week old seedling. I really only commented because hybrids have multiple phenotypes and what you said is not always true.

And when I flower her with the light at a distance she is happy with (likely around 18" for my 600w HPS a/c lights) her genetics and environment will still dictate how she grows. Assuming things are going well.

Your right genetics play a big part in growth I had some pineapple chunk and one pheno was 3ish feet tall another grew over 6 feet tall under the same lights so not every scenario can just explained easily but if you have stable genetics with minimal pheno types within the strain chances are you can predict growth rates but not always

Yes it will be good to avoid stress., I like to start them on a 20/4 light schedule., Them move to 18/6., Then to flower
