First Time Grow - Newb Question

Quick question: you probably use the daylight CFLs (5500k) when vegging, but do you switch to a warmer CFL when flowering or are the floro's spectrum full enough to give good flowering results?
me personally i like to mix in 2700K's during flower to get more of that red spectrum the plants love for bud making..:weed:

In my new box I've got a 400w MH/HPS along with 12x5500k 23w cfl's (ah ha...you probably thought I was anti-cfl, huh??? :) ) Actually, I use cfl's for my clone lights and my last grow was all cfl's for veg. They came out great. I'm running a 600w MH/HPS + Lumatek ballast in my hydro closet.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I'll change them over to the 2700k's along with my HID when I go to flower.

i tried preaching that to a few people i know but they wont listen...i feel your pain

When you say "matching the lights to the plants", are you referring to changing them over to the warmer cfl's for flowering, or are you talking about getting the light within inches of the plant?

Just curious

It's about having enough wattage and lumens to give the plant "just" what it needs

most new growers will cram to many plants into the garden and then cram too much light down the plants throat, because of the myth that more is better,,,,it's not!

best thing a new grower can do is get a light meter and adjust/tweak the light "for" the plant without any consideration for yield

I invite you to read my NooB Advice thread ton of info there !!!
