First Time Grow

Hey Guys,

I am currently awaiting the arrival of some seeds i ordered off of The Attitude Seed Bank website. The strain is Lowryder #2 X AK47 and the seeds i purchased are feminized. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what i need to grow, as i have some idea of what i may need but i feel like i may be missing some crucial supplies. Would it be possible to just string up a powerful enough light and grow this plant in a pot, feeding and watering it daily? or would i need a grow tent and a hydroponic watering system? i really dont have that much cash so i was hoping to avoid buying an expensive system like an Ecogrower. If anyone has any tips to offer that would be great as i need some help in other areas too like germination and cloning. I was hoping to make a few clones from this first plant.

You have too many topics. This site is full of info lots helpful, some junk. Do research and narrow each post down. Ok start with lighting......... Dont even germinate until you have the setup fairly complete and stable. As for lights space available power of lights costs, growing- hydro/soil?, ventilation so forth. This is the part for you to figure out what you have to work with

That sounds like a great strain! you got some pretty basic questions.. unfortunatly all you will get is basic answers.... to grow MJ you need lights,something to grow in, and air mixed with CO2. there are many many varieties of each of these and where one has success another fails.... so you may need to experiment with what works for you. it usualy comes down to envirment, expectatons, and of coarse money! here is a great thread to get you started https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/937-how-grow-marijuana.html ... it's what I used not that long ago when I started. I am debating purchasing a grow tent. Would one be necessary in this case? I'm only planning on growing one plant at a time and my room stays fairly dark throughout the day without light on.

Much better break down, I'd recommend some type of tent box what not, at the least. Any light to the plant affects it at night. So u want to ensure no light. Also ppm/tds meter And thermometer temp and humidty. Other than sounds good now start putting the tent together. Don't germinate until you feel everything has been somewhat taken care of. I mean stable temps so forth.

Figure out where you are growing. that is #1. The space you have to grow in, your budget, and what you would like to produce, pretty much dictate your grow. If you can't seal a room 100% light tight, then yes, you need a grow tent. Off the top of my head, I see no ventilation. You need something turning over the air in the space as well as something circulating the air within the space.

It's simple really if you're only growing a personal stash (2-3 plants) - I just use an old wardrobe painted white inside for reflectivity (you could use mylar or something reflective if you want, but white paper/paint/sheets work fine...) hang the growlight from the clothes rail, easy really!

sounds like you want to grow in a soil, or soiless medium. a tent would be best. or you can build your own. but a bright ass 400watter while you try to sleep could be annoying. 400watter for just one plant isn't necessary. you would need fans for intake and exhaust as well too bruh. a 400w hps light can handle 4-6 plants. so if you have your mind set on that should atleast do four plants.
BTW dont need clonex for a autoflower strain. but you can save it for a later day when you purchase non autoflowers.

thanks man, i did not know about not needing clonex that was a helpful tip. I'll probably end up buying it anyway cuz i got five free bonus seeds with my order. i might try and experiment with those when i get a nicer set up. Right now, i was thinking of just getting 3 6500k CFL's, 2 5-gallon smart pots, and some soil to grow these bad boys. im kinda itching to start, lol. I was going to just take one of those mylar car sunlight reflectors and form a sort of semi wall around the grow area. thanks for the advice man, much appreciated. I am kind of curious about one other thing though, if i wanted to grow say two plants side by side, what lighting requirments would i need to meet? would the 3 cfls be enough for a few weeks until i can save the cash to buy another light?

I started with 2 trainwrecks in 5 gallon smart pots, mixed my soil 50/50 with foxfarms ocean forest and botanicare readygro perlite mix. I ran about 12,000 lumens of t-5 lights and they went great. That soil has great nutes to get you through without adding nutes for a bit. easy deal man good luck

The t-5s are a little expensive for me though, i can really afford to pay 40 bucks a light. Thats why i was just gonna throw 3 6500k cfls into a lamp for a few weeks to give my self some time to uprgrade. like i said, im kinda eager to start, im gonna run out now though and get the pots, soil and lights, then gonna start germinating when i get back and hopefully begin a successful grow journal. lol, thanks for the input man. i appreciate it.

I picked up the T5 HO 24'' 4 bulb for $120 brand new it was not to badly priced

where did you find that? if i can get that deal i'd spring for that, i still need to buy a few screw in small wattage cfls though just to get me to the point where id have enough money to buy a $120 light. i dont really have a job right now so i was hoping to not spend more than i really had.

It was a sunblaze that I got at a local grow shop. I used that for a while and it did awesome.
