First time grower- any advice is welcomed

My location is in maine. I started seeds in my house today, in potting soil, in styro cups. I've planted three seeds so far. As I live with my parents (I'll be heading off to college in the fall, but within 45 min of my house, though I'll be rooming there) and they definitely wouldn't approve of this, I can't risk buying any artificial lights and setting them up in my house, and I know that's a problem. Will my plants still grow if I only use sunlight?

Right now, that's my only question. When I get some responses, I'll move on to some more. I appreciate any advice I can get.

Indeed I do. How long should it take them to sprout indoors? It's gonna be hella nice all week, and there will be no problems keeping them in the sun during the day.

2 -10 days. did you germinate before hand or just straight to soil.{faster res}
when they are not in the sun try to get a CFL to keep them under

Yea, straight to soil. Didn't read about soaking them or anything til after. Oh well, i still have some seeds left. And what does cfl mean? I assume it means roughly shade from the light? Yea, ill be able to have them in complete darkness at night.

Dark or C.F.light Either way will work. How many hour's of light does the day have where you are?

You sound like you're in pretty much exactly the same boat as me, except I'm waiting to plant them until after I've moved out, in several weeks. Keep us posted on how the little buds grow :)

If you plants aren't getting enough sun light to keep them in Veg, then suppliment with CFL's at night. Or keep in total dark. Incandesent light with cause stretching.

-And Veg means what exactly?

-can someone possibly post a link to a CFL so i can see exactly what im looking for? something probably no more than 20 bucks?

veg means vegetative state when the plant is getting enough hours of light so that it doesn't go into flower (18 or 24 hours of light is normal)

and here is a link to home depot... usually you can get these in multi packs and save money

Alright, well thanks to everyone who has helped.

Another question- I planted the seeds in potting soil yesterday. Is there anything I could put/pour on the soil right now to help it grow faster/healthier? Like something cheap or a product I could find around the house?
