First time grower! How should I grow?!

I'm tired of paying such high prices to medicate. I've been wanting to grow for a while, and I've been doing a lot of reading, but I've been trying to grow too much my first time. I've finally decided to go with a basic setup to start so when I mess things up it doesn't end up being too costly. I wanted advice on what method you guys thought I should start with.

I'm going to grow in a small space hydroponically. I don't know where I'll be growing exactly, that'll depend on the method I use, but probably in a small closet. I wanted to grow DWC, but was told it might be a bad idea for a first time grower. I was also thinking about using flourescent bulbs or something that didn't use a lot of electricity to start, but am open to suggestions. Any advice would help.

Thanks!

I could only offer that my reasons to try to grow were the same, too expensive and garbage at most places. I went with a small tent, cfl's (350-400w worth of cfl) some fans and CF and dirt. dirt allows a lot of forgiveness and I am surprised how much the average first timer needs that . HIH

If your looking for a cheap easy start i would go with t5s or cfl and growing in soil. IMO dwc requires more attention because plants grow much faster. Yes hps will give you the best result but then you have a high cost and most likely heat issues. Keep it simple the first time and spend as little as you can because there are many hidden fees that first time growers don't plan for.

Do your research and try to stay away from hydro stores if possible...most are overpriced.

Use amazon for reviews and sometimes decent prices.

T5 in coco.

Coco is a lot easier to grow in than soil. No over-watering issue, no long waiting periods to flush out any mistakes you may have made, and it's just as fast as hydro if you feed it enough and at the proper times.
T5 for the heat issue. T5's burn at around 120* F so a few fans paired with proper ventilation and your heat issues should be under control.

First time i grow and i'm almost done now. First thing is don't over water your plants it cause so many problems.Second if you do decide to grow in dwc dont go over 1000ppm i saw that less made them grow so much better. Pick a strain that is easy to grow. La confidential in soil will be so easy to grow it was the only strain that never gave me one single problem thru out the whole grow.

1.2m x 1.2m x 2m tent + 600w HPS, 9 plants with 7 week veg time and you'l be a happy camper.

Im going to jump on the t5 band wagon. t5's are great for growing and are low heat, they need to be kept within a short distance of the plants but there long bulbs make getting good coverage easy, and they work really well in vertical grows which don't require a lot of space. I'd also recommend soil or coco as your medium as DWC like any hydro system needs a bit more knowledge and while they do grow weed faster when iyou run into a problem like over or under nuting these problems grow faster as well, plus a DWC needs more regular cleaning and maintence then a soil grow
