First time grower, look for ideas etc...

So ive gotten pretty tired of paying decent money for some shady herb. so why not grow my own i thought. ive been on the forums about 2 weeks read etc. im looking into suggestions on what i should be growing. heres what i plan to work with.

2x2x3 foot grow area.
cfl bulbs. 6 bulbs total, 42 watts each
soil grow
would like an auto and feminized.

i assume due to my height restrictions id be looking for some form of lowlife or lowryder correct me if im wrong.would it also be wrong of me to only grow one plant? in that area. ive also seen people re-veg them also. that would be the plan.
any pointers, hints or tricks are more then welcome

Hey man, I just started my first grow 50 days ago (got a counter on my phone) and I'm 20 days into flowering. you're lucky you got some actual room to grow in. I had to be super stealth so I went with 2 rubbermaids stacked on top of each other. but my space is essentially the same size as yours. I'm using Papaya from nirvana. feminized of course. she's very short and smells wonderful, nice and fruity. I vegged for 30 days under 6 42-watt 6500k cfl's. then I switched them over to flower with 4 23-watt 2700k cfl's and 2 of the 6500k's. I also used miracle grow. most of the ppl on here say its bad, but I used the potting mix and its worked out awesome. there's actually a thread showing it doing just as well (slightly better actually) as the fox farm. I'd recommend using the mg potting mix. make sure you ph your DISTILLED water. Also, I made a ghetto ass co2 lol took some yeast, sugar, and water, shook it up in a beer bottle and put it in the box below the leaves. I think that's all I got. Good luck sir.

Oh yeah, I'm also planning to re-veg my first plant.

Check it!

There's a little nute burn in the middle and the leaves grew so fast they hit the lights a few times.

I'd say around 4 42-watt per plant. I'm gonna be doing 4-6 soon and I'm planning to do between 15-21 cfl's in my stealth rubbermaid box.

Hey man! Lowryder are suppose to get just around 30cm tall so I think you would be fine with those +-240W for 4 plants. Anyway never grown lowryder and I grow in smaller boxes but really think that would give you a good yield. It also depends how much you want to get and as allways the more light the better ;)

btw those strains are auto flowers so its not possible to reveg them
Agree, you won't be able to reveg those auto.

My Papaya is not autoflowering. I am going to re-veg my baby. Hopefully fill the box eventually.
Dude! you should create your own thread to talk about your plant....

Dude! I'm helping the kid out. Giving him full info about my grow since were in the same boat. Not trying to hijack the thread at all, just telling him what I did since, you know, the name of the thread IS "looking for ideas". Calm down. We both had the same grow area, I just used a rubbermaid. I wish people had been so eager to help when I first started.

since i wont be able to re-veg if its an auto flowering. would i be able to make 3-4 clones from it? if so when would i.. before it starts to flower i assume?

Well from what I've read you cant clone autos bc they will all still finish at the same time because unlike 12/12 induced strains, the flowering time is predetermined in the plants DNA. I'm not sure but you still might technically be able to clone... your clones would definitely end up smaller though. Some autos have longer veg than others but I know lowryder 1 and 2, the most notable original autos, veg is short and I don't think it'd be worth it to clone even if it is technically possible. I was thinking about starting autos too soon and was toying with the idea of, after I grow auto fem seeds a couple times, getting unfeminized auto seeds like a low/AK cross. Then when I'll take one female and spray her down with that silver activated water to make her grow male parts and use the pollen to make tons of auto fem seeds. Fem seeds are so expensive and cloning on autos is either tuff or impossible... Never grown auto but if I like them I plan to try this out.

Its been a while since I have posted on this and I am sorry. Thank you for all your help. I am now going to start growing my AK-47 x lowryders in about a week. I will end up starting a grow journal

Now I am confused. My first grow was with two 43 watt 2700k lights per pot in MG soil. They did ok but not alot of production. My second grow I used just one 43 watt 2700k per pot and they seemed burned. I worked on ph and nutrients, but still don't understand how all that works either. The only dif in the two grows besides the light was that I just noticed the second grow was 6 month MG and the first was 3 month. Today starting again, gonna use the 3 month MG. My lights seem to be opposite from what noobgrowr said though. I have 26 watt 6500k bulbs and 43 watt 2700k bulbs, whats the difference and whats best anyone?

lilmiggy If I recall right in the before you post read this. It encourages people to not start new posts until they have done the research and see if that subject has been covered before to save space. What's up?
