first time grower needs help!

so im trying to start growing... i have a 4x5 ft closet to work with. im a complete novice when it comes to growing and have no one to really show me the ropes. im interested in a hydro ebb and flow set up. im just trying to grow like 4 plants. id rather just buy a complete system so if someone could post a link to a good weed growing hydro system for my closet, and recomendations on lights i would very much appreciate it.

http://www.htgsupply.com/, is going to be your best bet. As far as lights go I personally grow 4 plants at a time and I find that a 400w HID works the best.

Are you trying to just grow the 4 plants at one time or are you going to have separate rooms, light a veg room and a flowering room with a mother and clones?

until i get the hang of things im going to just try and keep things simple, so i would just grow all my plants at once. If I were to buy the above system i figure i would try and grow 8 plants instead, unless you have any recomendations otherwise, im all ears.

i would need to buy the proper ballasts for hid lights, which are a bit too much money. any ideas on a cheaper alternative? know of any particular flourescent lights that work well?

everything looks good. The m/h bulb dose require a ballast though. Same with the HPS. Sold at the HTG. Also another way to go would be CFLs, the money saver bulbs. Compact florescent are a good source of light, the only thing is that you need alot of them. Also check on ebay. I found my 400hps with a reflector for a little over 100$. M/H for veging and HPS for flowering. But if you want to use one all the way though the grow I would go witha HPS, great for the bud grouth.
Some stuff to check out: Converson bulbs, Dual switchable m/h hps ballast.

thanks a lot for youre responses. the conversion bulbs are clutch, i wouldnt have known about them unless you mentioned them. i got my whole system pretty much figured out now, ill be growing by september.... ill let you know how it all turns out haha
