First Time Grower - PLANTS GROWING TOO QUICKLY!

I am a first time grower and have 6 plants with a 430 HPS. I had my plants in veg state for about 2 months. They grew to about 1.5ft tall then I changed the lights to 12/12. In about a week and a half the plants have grown to 3ft or more. My grow room only has about 5 ft of room for the plants to grow. I am guessing that the plants are going to outgrow my grow room and want to bend the plants rather then tripping the tips. Someone had told me that if you want to bend the tips you need to do it at an early state. Any suggestions on what can be done?

That's quite normal, expecially with sativa dominant strains, but they shouldn't grow too much taller, but if they are getting too tall just tie some branches down (LST)

If you have to you can pinch/crush the stem many times in one spot until it's broken up a bit and the thing just flops over on it's own. It will still grow fine as long as half or more of the stem is still connected to the plant. But tying it down is preferrable at this stage if you can.
